My elderly neighbours have to log in and input passcode every time they want to use itvX or bbc iplayer etc. It worked fine until 3 weeks ago when they got a new tv. It’s an LG smart tv. I just tried to help and I had to enter name, date of birth etc. it worked fine until you went to another app and back. My 5 will play the adverts at the start of a catch up then kick you out.

Are your elderly neighbours using the apps on their LG TV? Or on their (presumably) V6?
You've posted in the V6 section of the forum, but there's no reason for a new TV to make any difference to the apps on a VM TV box, which makes me question if it's the LG-TV one they're trying to use.

Evening. They are using the apps on the V6 box. They don’t use the LG remote at all. I went through the registering process for all 4 terrestrial channel apps. Selected something to watch on each. When we went back to the first one it had all disappeared and wanted to Login/register again…….scan qr code or whatever.

Are you certain they are using a V6 with TiVo-software? and not a TV360 running Horizon-software?
I only ask because both use the same physical box, and the TV360 variant does have some form in this sort of behaviour with the in-built apps. It's not something the V6 is known for.
https://www.virginmedia.com/care/tv-fault/which-tv-box if you're not sure - the remote and the onscreen menu is the difference. A V6 has the TiVo-logo in the top-right corner next to the video preview, a TV360 doesn't.

just checked the link you attached and I was using the remote that is shown with a TV 360 box so I guess he told me the wrong type of box.

Once you sign into iPlayer it should remember you unless you sign out, you just need to press the back button to exit.
Is the box losing recording's or having problems pausing and rewinding live TV if it is then the box is probably faulty having to sign into apps all the time is another symptom.
Apart from getting a new TV have they only just switched to 360 from a V6 TiVo.

they don’t use the box for recording. They didn’t sign out or anything and the box just wanted you to log in again.

If you exit iPlayer by pressing the back button and you then need to sign in again without turning the box off then that would indicate the box is faulty.
I would also check that the hard drive is working ok, if your neighbours have been watching the same channel for up to 3 hours you should be able to rewind without any problems.
