Broadband package renewal email

Hi I have been receiving a renewal email about my package. I am confused because My contract is not up until march. The email is saying I can keep my current package for a few £ more. I am unsure if this is a valid email. I’m also not happy paying any more for what I have.

can someone on here look into this for me via PM?

Hi thewickedpicket,

Thanks for posting 🙂 These would bed legitimate emails with renewal offers.

Package changes are not something we do via this forum, but you can speak to us on 150/0345 454 1111 and the team will be happy to take a look.

I’ve just had the same email as mine is also due for renewal early March.  It is genuine and clicking the link does show you the offer.   The offer in my case is a 20% increase on what I currently pay so saying “a little bit more” is a little misleading.  It also mentions it also going up in April due to inflation increase - RPI plus 3.9%.
Anyone know whether the best offer is likely to be via this email or haggling once the contract expired?

Thanks

George

The renewal offer I received was also packed with creativity from Virgin - 'a little bit more' turns out to be a 10% increase* for the 'same package, same speeds, less hassle'...

Except it isn't the same package - Netflix and BTSport/TNTSport were part of my package and they have disappeared.  To add them in costs significantly more.

To my calculation this is a 10% increase, for what is clearly not the same package

Same Virgin, same disingenuity.

* renew at the stated price which will increase by RPI +3.9% within days!  i.e about another 8 to 10%

Hi Bolehill, Many thanks for pointing that out.  I checked and my offer of the ‘same package’ also makes no mention of our extra box, Netflix nor TNT Sports when I looked at the detail so not quite as straightforward as the email suggests.  I had taken the email stating ‘same package’ as accurate.  Your post has stopped me potentially making a big mistake by renewing via the email !!!

Thanks

George

There's been several recent posts along these lines, but all have gone cold when it was suggested posting up the (suitably redacted) email or promo stating "same package" or words to the effect of.

I would certainly be interested in seeing one.

Hi japitts,

Subject line of the email is "There's still time to renew with your exclusive offer" and this is the 3rd one I've received over the last month or two.

The basic text is as follows:

=======

It’s your last chance to renew your Virgin Media contract with our exclusive offer*. Remember, it’s the same package, with the same superfast speeds, which means less hassle for you. Don’t miss out!

Renew today and get the same package for just a little extra a month*. Don’t miss out!

======

Plus there's some "Renew Now" buttons that take you to across to the website where your offer is shown.

Followed by a section of "Legal Stuff" which outlines the April price rise, contract length and Volt-related stuff.

The email doesn't give details of your package, you see that when you transfer across to the website.

Hope that gives you a decent idea of the content of these offers!!!

Would you mind posting up a screenshot of the email? Is there anywhere that makes specific reference to Maxit/Mega TV tiers?

I don't see any reference to the TV tiers unless they're implied somehow.  The other pieces of text in addition to those posted earlier are:

That's more or less all that's in the email.

Cheers

George

The 'same package' statement is implicit; it's in personal e-mail that refer to the recipients agreement with Virgin.  In my case it's Ultimate Volt from almost 18 months ago.
