Renewal offer 'Same package, same price, no fuss'

I received the offer to renew my package at the same price. Having read the experience of others who have received the same offer but found in reality their package had changed I wonder if it's not better just to wait until your current contract is about to expire and go through the 'haggle' process or leave virgin.

i have been with the company a long time and would have been content to renew  if my package and price had been the same.

Finally, I am currently on the Ultimate package and am paying £64 per month. They say that when my contract expires I will be paying £136 even though if you 'Google' for prices the Ultimate package is apparently £70!!.

Disgruntled and disappointed

    Hi Poppinjay

You are correct, the packages have changed.  The Ultimate Volt bundle is now obsolete. It was discontinued on 1st September last year and replaced with the Mega Volt bundle.

At the same time TNT Sports (formerly known as BT Sports) is no longer available as part of a package to new and recontracting customers, it's now a standalone addon which costs £18 extra per month (although a discount can be negotiated)

There are also other differences between the two packages, the second box is now an additional £10 per month unless you can negotiate that into a new deal, and the package speed is M500, although you can upgrade to Gig1 for an additional £6 per month.

The Mega Volt package is currently £70 per month for new customers. The out of contract price (from month 19) is now £180 per month. You should though be able to negotiate a deal between the new customer and out of contract pricing, but be sure that the negotiated price includes everything you want.

newapollo, Thank you that clarifies the situation.

  • Hi Poppinjay,

Thanks for taking the time to contact us via the Community. It's lovely having you on board with us in the Forums.

Apologies for any confusion caused. This has already been reported to the relevant teams and we've amended the wording and T's&Cs so it no longer shows as the same great package.

In terms of renewing your contract, we don't have access to any deals that may have been emailed to you and the best discounts on your package would be available in the last 30 days of your contract.

When you join us as a new customer, you will usually be on a welcome offer. When this offer ends, you'll usually revert to the standard package price for the bundle. The cost of this will be listed on your contract and the end date of the discounts will be listed on each bill. We also send out an End Of Contact Notification to all our customers before their contract comes to an end highlighting the new package price and also any offers that may be of interest.

Although 'new customer' offers may not always be available to existing customers, that doesn't mean that you miss out once you've joined us. We often have offers and special deals on our services, or one-off promotions to make sure you carry on getting the value you'd expect. We're always happy to review your package and cost to help find one that best suits your needs and budget - this doesn't always mean a downgrade! If you want to chat with us, please feel free to call on 150 / 0345 454 1111 or pop us a message on WhatsApp on 07305327112.

    Thanks,

Thank you for your reply. You say "we often have offers and special deals on our services or one off promotions to make sure you carry on getting the value you expect" How are customers made aware of this information? Is there a general email?

I look forward to the offers available when I receive my end of contract notification.

Finally where can I find details of the current 'Bundles' , their price and what they include.

      Regards
