TV remote

My mother 85 is having difficulty operating her TV, she needs the Tesco TV remote to switch it on & off but now has to leave it on but no sound when I do not visit and the Virgin remote for channel changes but today she has not been able to do this eithelr. I am at wits end what to do and nobody to help or advise me

Obvious question first - have you changed the batteries in the remotes?

It's possible that the remote may have forgotten the codes for the TV.
