LipSync issues with Tivo box

Hi there,

I've had Virgin at my new place now for around three weeks, and from the very beginning I've had big problems with the Lip Sync on every channel.  I've had Virgin Media before, and also used this very same TV with Virgin, but never had this problem.  Is there anything I can do to solve this problem or will I require an engineer?

Thanks,

Chris.

Re: LipSync issues with Tivo box

I am having same issues and have had two engineers. I have been told there is a serious network outage in my area. I know other people where I live who have similar issues and also no wifi at present, going to be without for around a week.

i have had some people from VM saying no issues and others saying there are serious issues!

not very good customer service at present

Re: LipSync issues with Tivo box

Hi chrisjraby,

Thanks for coming by Smiley Happy

I'm sorry to hear that you've experienced lip sync issues since you were installed with our TV service.

I'll be happy to help check this out for you.

I have connected to your box remotely and signal wise all looks great and there doesn't appear to be any network issues at present.

Can you please let me know if you have any audio equipment connected?  And also what lead you have got connected from your box to your TV set?

Keep me posted, I'm here to help.

Re: LipSync issues with Tivo box

Hi Collette,

My Tivo is connected to the TV by HDMI, and I have a soundbar connected via an optical cable.  I was experiencing the issues before I connected the soundbar, but that has magnified them somewhat.  I know there is the potential for lag via optical, but I was hoping at a minimum there would be some way to dial it back a little bit (I can put up with a little delay for the benefit of surround sound!).  Anything you can advise?

Thanks,

Chris.

Re: LipSync issues with Tivo box

Hi both,

Thanks for popping back and letting us know.

Can you both please try changing the following option in Settings to see if this makes any difference for me:

Help & SettingSettingsAudioDolby Digital>Dolby Digital to PCM

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kath

It seems to make it worse. Just to let you know I watch it through the sound of a theatre surround sound rather than the normal TV

Kind regards

Anthony

Re: LipSync issues with Tivo box

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for coming back to me on this.

There are 2 other work around's to try.

Give these a go:

·         If you are using a separate home cinema system, amplifier or sound bar, then the best connection to use is an HDMI cable.

·         On some TVs with an optical output, you may be able to route the Dolby Digital from the TV to the amp/ surround sound system.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks,

Re: LipSync issues with Tivo box

Hi Kath,

Sorry for the delayed response.

My TV was already set to use PCM on digital sound out, but what I did try turning on was an option called "ARC Mode".  I'm not sure what it is, but it does seem to have improved it somewhat.

I will see how it goes for a few hours and then report back.

Thanks,

Chris.
