Does V6 need another connectionm other than white coaxial;rf cable

Hi,

I have the co ax cable going into Tivo currently, straight from the outside "box" into my lounge. My superhub is upstairs with another Co ax from the outside box, Why does the V6 need another connection to internet via Ethernet or wifi and also if hub goes down do I lose tv service. Wont the co-ax cable provide all info to the v6

Thanks

The v6 doesn't have a built in modem like all the older virgin boxes.  It need a broadband connection for iplayer and netflix etc so it can connect via wifi to your broadband

I would recommend having an ethernet cable, I'm not sure as the other post said it's for on demand feeds, this comes from your LAN network, it certainly is speed dependent so it needs fast wifi or the powerline adapters for the higher res 4k picture.

If your broadband goes, you will still get live TV and can watch your recordings from that box. You won't be able to watch recordings on another box if you have one.

Re: Does V6 need another connectionm other than white coaxial;rf cable

Brilliant info guys, much appreciated. Looks like I will have to go powerline, my wife not too happy about me drilling through the ceiling to put Ethernet into hub.

I cant really move the hub as my son has 2 wired connection for ps4 an Xbox 1. Also my house is like 120 yrs old and solid 9inch walls so wifi is hit and miss at best of times. Think I will buy them from virgin and get the wifi extender ones. Any ideas if they are any good ??

Once again thanks for the info

Re: Does V6 need another connectionm other than white coaxial;rf cable

The wifi extender ones are pretty good (internal wiring dependent). Strong signal, fairly easy to set up.

I modified the SSID to match that of the SuperHub, so devices switch seamlessly between the two.

TV: XL+SkySports V6
BB: 200Mbps SuperHub: Arris
Loc: ME10
