Phone dead

My phone has no dialling tone. First noticed this yesterday when someone tried to call me and it did not ring. It is still not working. The phone is in the same position and still plugged into the socket as when last working. There was an engineer working in the phone box in the street outside my house on 24th Feb. though not sure this is connected.

A number of people, myself included, have this problem. Contact Support (0345 - 454 1111) and book an engineer - don't expect to get one before March 8th, though: I hope it's not your only phone line.

Really sorry to hear you're having trouble with your landline.

 

I've located your account and I can see a network fault in your area affecting the landline - Ref.(C00792404). Our technicians are working to get this resolved as soon as possible and have set a review later today.

I've checked the network and the outage appears to have cleared. Can you check your line to see if you have a dial tone now?

I have returned home now and checked the phone which is still dead. 

What should I do now? This has not worked for at least 3 days now.

Josh_RW is away at the moment so I hope you don't mind if I respond.

 

I have checked your line and I'm not finding a fault in the area anymore so I would like to arrange for a technician but before I do can I just confirm whether you have tested/replaced your handset just to make sure there is no fault with the equipment?

I am unable to test my handset/equipment as I do not have another available to do this. The phone has not been moved or anything else changed since the problem started.
