Roaming in Europe

I set up my mobile device for roaming before leaving the UK and also rang virgin. I was told it is set up correctly however now I'm in France I have no use of my mobile except when I connect to local wifi (hens this message). I seriously rely on my device for my work. Could some one please contact me via these means as I can not phone tech support.
