tivo updating

hi can anyone tell me why the tivo takes sooooo long to update?

I'm sorry to hear that your TiVo® is stuck on updating.  If your still getting this updating message, power off and on the TiVo® and let me know if this gets it unstuck?.

Mine has been updated for at least 6 hours (just what I know of since arriving home from work)

Just phoned customer service who told me it would be another 40 minutes and should be back on by midnight

Annoyed all of tonight's tv will have failed to record Smiley Sad

SWITCHING OFF AND ON WORKED ALTHOUGH THE MESSAGE SAYS DO NOT SWITCH THE BOX OFF!
