For the last few weeks almost every recording I have watched the picture has froze sometimes restarting after a couple of seconds and sometimes I am having to switch off completely so annoying especially if you are half way through something.

Your hard drive is probably dying. Phone 150 free from a virgin phone or 03454541111 for an engineer as you'll need a new box.
