TiVO connection to a Smart TV that has wi-fi??

Hi all,

I have a 100MB cable broadband connection.   My TV is a Samsung smart TV with wi-fi.   I'm interested in subscribing to the Virgin TV package but that requires TivO and I've been told  you have to run a HDMI cable from the TiVO box to the TV.

For various reasons I don't want to run a cable.  Is it possible to get a TiVO box that includes a wi-fi connection,  or some add in that provides this?

TiVo's output is either HDMI or SCART.

You can buy Wireless HDMI devices, but they can be very expensive - over £200.

I looked at the TiVO web site and the latest TiVO boxes have a wifi connection.  Is this something that Virgin can supply?

US TiVo's Wifi connection isn't for the display, it's for the connection back to the internet. Virgin Media TiVo has this built into the coax cable connection already.

Indeed there are US versions of TiVo with wifi and you can easily add wifi capability to the Virgin Media TiVo but I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by having such function. You cannot connect TiVo via wifi to your TV.

Because that's not how it works. Your TV also isn't designed to take a TV input over WiFi. It's inbuilt WiFI will be for it's own apps platform only and DNLA.
