Speed keeps dropping. Sometimes entirely disconnects

0.45MB down right now.

Loads of errors in log and bad data in the millions. Last time I reset errors was about a month ago when this started.

I assume this needs an engineer visit but thought I would check.

Re: Speed keeps dropping. Sometimes entirely disconnects

Hey B1ade,

Welcome to the community Smiley Very Happy

Sorry to see that you're having problems with your connection, I know it's inconvenient.

I've checked your Superhub and I can see the time-outs are still occurring.

Let's get an engineer booked to visit. I'll drop you a PM (purple envelope, top right) to confirm an appointment.

Speak with you soon,

Take care.

Re: Speed keeps dropping. Sometimes entirely disconnects

Update.

Still have same problem.

Speed randomly drops to between 4-10mb Down. Upstream not affected at all. Broadband health monitor shows packet loss and increased latency.

Hub spews out this all the time.

Cleared all local equipment. Has to be between hub and virgin.

I've had new hub. had inside and outside box checked. Cabinet cable was re-terminated due to sheath being snagged and changed to a different tap. First engineer just changed the hub.

Last contact with last engineer was that area manager would be in touch to investigate further. No contact for 9 days now.

With so many things eliminated, this can now only be the cable run inside my house (new around 18 months ago), or the cable outside. Need another engineer.

Re: Speed keeps dropping. Sometimes entirely disconnects

Another update. Just as I was leaving the house I got a "sorry we missed you" card saying they came to check my modem and they would call to arrange a time.

Do we just cold call nowdays? With a phone call I could have told him I'd be ten mins.

Posting this here since the last two who promised a follow up, didn't.

Re: Speed keeps dropping. Sometimes entirely disconnects

Hi again B1ade,

I've heard back from the team who advised they tried calling you prior to the visit but the line was engaged and therefore presumed you'd be at the property.

They also advised that there was no answer upon knocking the door and thus is the reason for them leaving a calling card.

I've queried with them if further contact has been arranged.

Let me know if you've received any update regarding this also.

Re: Speed keeps dropping. Sometimes entirely disconnects

I was in the bath beforehand. I had just come downstairs when i saw post on the floor and a man in a red coat putting something in the letterbox so assumed it was the postman. If the landline was engaged it was long before they arrived.

Not had any further contact. The best number to get me on is my mobile which ends 604.
