New 200mb connection, slow as

So swapped over from Sky, looking forward to our blistering 200mb connection, it's not happening 105mb at most, I'd accept some loss but it's nearly half what I was sold.....advice, ideas appreciated, we are under zone 04 , Redditch

Re: New 200mb connection, slow as

Downstream OK. Upstream is on the high side but within spec' so should be OK.

As Tommy said earlier, try a new cable that is cat5e or better and see if it's any better. Try some speed tests early morning and see if you get close to full speed, if you do it could be down to over utilisation. Apart from that I'm out of ideas.

Phone in tomorrow morning (best chance of avoiding off shore as they are useless), failing that give it about a week and the forum staff should reply.

Does the device you're testing it with have a gigabit network adaptor?

Re: New 200mb connection, slow as

Can't find any definitive spec's on it to say whether it's 10/100 or 10/100/1000.

What colour is the light on the port? If it's a gigabit connection it should be green.

Re: New 200mb connection, slow as

Hi Dave yea it's green, just gone a speed test via wifi came out at about 76mbs......I know virgin say upto 200mbs on what iv got , is it realistic to expect that or around 180 at least, I see a lot of people have issues but I imagine there are plenty out there who get the speed advertised

Re: New 200mb connection, slow as

You should get close to or above 200 if everything is working ok. If you only get slower speeds during peak times it could be due to over utilisation. If it's 24/7 then something else is limiting it.

The wifi speed sounds about right as it doesn't have ac wireless.

You could post your power levels to see if there's anything obvious.

Open the hub GUI http://192.168.100.1

Don't log in just click the Router Status button then copy and paste the downstream and upstream levels.
