Just got my broadband area 21...

Just got my broadband, and the speeds after installation where ok:

But now after around 6-7 pm I get:

Which is very unusable... Even the pages are loading slowly, 2000 ping in games...

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

Hello,

Same situation here, area 21.

My connection works great during the day but after 7-8pm it becomes unusable.

Speed drops from 50 to 1-5 (usually ~3Mbps)

This situation repeats daily.

It is the time I need my internet connection mostly.

I am at work whole day and when I really need my connection it works like a snail.

I understand  that “Up to 50 Mbps” means “50Mbps or less” but this is a huge exaggeration.

I have already written complaint letter but I do not know if it helps.

I have read similar topic:

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Speed/slow-broadband-speed-in-the-evenings/td-p/2234509

There have been some refunds proposed in this topic but personally, if I wanted poor and cheap connection I would buy it.

Also Area 21. Service unusable in evening. I'd advise leaving now.

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

I would love to do so.

I know that I have signed an agreement but I am not receiving service I pay for so I am wondering if I can break contract free of charge.

I am afraid that they will keep telling "it's UP TO not FIXED"... but is 15 times less than I pay for fair? Shall I pay them 2 pounds/pm then?

I have already read plenty of complaints written by other users and I do not want to wait until things get fixed...

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

Also in Area 21 with same super slow 1-2 meg speeds pretty much 24/7 past week

I was about to post a new topic but you guys confirmed my fears, if you guys check service status page :

https://my.virginmedia.com/faults/service-status

(if it loads for you) you will see Reference no: F003915879 for our area 21

But it has been like this for over a week, I am lucky if virgin media status page actually loads it fails half the time.

The engineer or virgin staff have changed the estimate repair time 3 times and its now bumped to this friday, I doubt it gets fixed the estimate time will just increase its time to next week.

Also the service status appears incorrect it reports

"Virginmedia.com & Virginmedia.net Customers may be experiencing Degraded Webmail features Due to the complexity of this fault it is taking longer to fix than expected"

I don't see no webmail services degraded its basically just unusable internet, youtube and streaming sites do not load or crash and so do any sites with more then 3-4 images, even dial up is more stable and faster.

I hope it does get fixed, otherwise virgin bb has been pretty good for area 21 until now.

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

Area 21 means nothing. Its a very large area, you may not even be in the same city.

All the areas are for is billing areas and even then I dont know what they do. You are best posting first parts of your postcodes etc to see if you are local to each other as the faults are local.

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

Yep, billing area covers a large part of the UK each. Speed areas (IE whether you are over utilized or not) can come literally down to your street/another street being effected on one node with other streets near being perfectly fine.

Re: Just got my broadband area 21...

In a totally different postcode area myself, but I rebooted my router this morning and everything is back to normal.

Youtube and streaming sites and speedtest report full speeds once again Smiley Happy
