Is it just me or is VM plagued by over sold services, so called over utilisation faults, see inside..

Well I decided to have a quick look through posts on this forum for fault codes regarding people suffering peak time slow speeds and this is what I found in about half an hour.

There are at least five F Numbers for over utilisation open in Stevenage (SG1/2)

Not going to defend virgin media, the biggest delay is the lovely red tape in planning requests, since if need to install a new cabinet a hell of out lot work required, not just a matter of plugging in a few extra cables here and their.. have you seen other isps community forums not going to name names but plenty of high utilisation faults with them that take the same time scale to resolve

also would have multi cabinets supplying 1 area and maybe only 1 effected, or part of the cabinet just in case people get the wrong idea

Re: Is it just me or is VM plagued by over sold services, so called over utilisation faults, see inside..

With Ofcom saying that between 6–9% of cable customers have peak time utilisation "faults", that would indicate that somewhere between 306,000 and 459,000 of VM's 5.1 million customers could be suffering from these problems (whether they know it or not).

VM insist that these faults are very localised when I've discussed it with them on this forum. So, given that the faults are widespread, but localised, it's very likely that this is going to turn into a very long list!

"Not going to defend virgin media, the biggest delay is the lovely red tape in planning requests"

--> then for every new customer they MUST notify them of the fault impact and estimated fix date so that they can make an informed choice.

--> and, for every existing customer who will experience this fault, they MUST notify them AND properly adjust their bills...don't leave it up to the customer to be tech savvy enough...most are not...VM know this!

This is especially critical for those whose weekday downtime is 6-11pm.

Unfortunately, they WONT do any of this...unless enough noise is made.

since don't think business would lose out in possible source of revenue, plus they might just want it for checking their emails a few times a day nothing much else.. and I think of com brought out new rules to automatically adjust people's bills if fault..

Aah....have a look at

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2017/03/ofcom-unveils-new-automatic-compensation-system-broadba...
and

https://www.ofcom.org.uk/about-ofcom/latest/features-and-news/automatic-compensation

"Customers would be entitled to automatic compensation, without having to go through a potentially lengthy and difficult claims process, whenever:

  • their landline or broadband is not fixed quickly enough after it has stopped working; or
  • their new landline or broadband service is not up and running on the day promised; or
  • an engineer doesn’t arrive for an appointment as scheduled."

So, Ofcom are going to enforce automatic compensation. Reading this, I'm pretty sure it does not cover over-utilisation faults - only total loss. Nice! However, I am sure we should "Expect price rises". Nice!

Yeah I think the good old loop clause would come into effect of speeds "up To"
