How to accurately perform speed test?

Hello

I had 100mb package which was updated to 150mb. I have never experience or measured anything above 89mb so far. I use VM 2c Hub as modem only. I use TP-LINK Archer C7 as the  Wifi access hub.

How do I measure speed accuraely either on Wifi or Wired connection?

Re: How to accurately perform speed test?

I take it you are connected through the Archer C7 router.

I would test connected directly to the SH2 to rule out any possible faults with the Archer or any Qos settings in the Archer.

Bear in mind the speed will be dependable on the computer you are connecting with, e.g. if it has a fast 100Mbps ethernet card you will not get speeds above 95Mbps allowing for overheads.

Re: How to accurately perform speed test?

You need to measure it on a wired connection because Wi-Fi introduces too many variables.

Re: How to accurately perform speed test?

What ethernet adapter does the device you are using to test the wired speed with?

Are you using Cat5e or better ethernet cable?

Re: How to accurately perform speed test?

I have cat6 connection available via C8 hub at several points in the house. I could connect directly to one of these points via a patch cable and measure speed? I assume this will give me accurate speed?
