Bad broadband speed

Why is my speed constantly running at just over 1.5Mb during the week at evening and don't bluff me with usage as this is supposed to be the market leaders in fibre and as speed of signal doesn't slow over optic fibre then it can only be a Virgin applied throttle can anyone advise? As I'm not happy paying for a service not being received for most of the daylight hours!!!

Re: Bad broadband speed

Hi wayneriley1964,

Thanks for posting!

Really sorry to hear you're having speed issues.

I've located your account and I can see an issue with the network in your area affecting speeds at peak times - Ref.(F003279863). Our technicians are working to get this sorted and have set a review date of 17th May.

I'm really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Josh

Re: Bad broadband speed

@wayneriley1964

The entire network isn't fibre optic, the network is fibre to a point (the main cabinet) and then copper coaxial cable from there.

That's why usage/amount of customers effects it.

Re: Bad broadband speed

So do I qualify for a reduction due to poor service?

Re: Bad broadband speed

I get faster speeds of my mobile, copper is individually wired from each residence so that's not the issue poor tech in the roadside kiosks or their servers is more likely

Re: Bad broadband speed

You do qualify for a reduction in your bill however the way VM do it is a fixed rate based on your package and the fact it's a 24/7 service. So the reduction is meant to be proportional to the time of bad service.

Ring up on 150, ask for retentions, quoting the reference number.

Re: Bad broadband speed

Don't get excited, they offered me £12 off of £53 for 2.5% of my download sped at all times.
