Possible Text Scam

I received a text from 07786207197 advising that I could receive my new installation sooner than the 25th if I replied Yes. Of course I replied Yes and nobody called me. I've spoke with VM 3 times today and they have no notes on my file stating I had that text and my install date remains the 25th. Does this smell fishy to anyone else?

Well what have the scammed you of exactly, if you replied yes all you've done is confirm you're a pending customer and that the mobile number you use is valid and in use, just be sure to check the ID's of anyone coming to your house at random times

Re: Possible Text Scam

Just got another text from 07800002204 saying:

Hi, it's Virgin Media. The big day's coming! We'll be connecting you on Wed 25 Jan at number 10, ****** between 8am - 1pm. All OK? Reply YES or No.

As shanematthews has said. What are they trying to gain from this? The numbers I've had texts from seem to be bogus as any other Virgin Text comes up as Virgin or Virgin Media.

Re: Possible Text Scam

If this is a scam, on the 24th you may receive another txt saying they can't find your details so the installation will be cancelled, it will probably ask you to either txt your account details or list an email/webpage to use to contact VM to gain same details.

If there's no further texts then who knows.

Virginia/Doctor9fan. If I have helped please give me Kudos.

Re: Possible Text Scam

when in doubt ask google ( as Virgin are so clueless they will often tell you fake is genuine and vice versa. so you google who calls from nnnnnnnnnn & read thru the results:

 e.g.

http://www.whocallsmefrom.com/07800002204

http://who-called.co.uk/Number/07800002204

http://www.unknownphone.com/search.php?num=07800002204

results are mixed. I suspect its' their engineers/ contractors & VM have no idea what their sub caontractors ar doing.
