Disconnection charge from previous supplier

I'm due to have Virgin broadband/Tv installed tomorrow, Plusnet are demanding £69 to disconnect from them, is this correct? Virgin did not mention this..

Its not Virgin Media Job to tell you what your current provider will charge to disconnect. ADSL line tend to have disconnection fees. It will have been on your contract with PlusNet.

Thats because you moved from one DSL provider to Another. You are now moving from DSL to DOCSIS and completely off the BT network and that means someone actually has to go and remove the DSL line card from your line in the exchange.

This is between you and Plusnet, VM would have no knowledge of Plusnet disconnection policy.

I'm sure the sales person could have mentioned a disconnection fee..i moved from Plusnet to Sky a few years ago and was never charged.
