Slow Speeds on Powerline adapter

I have noticed that with my powerline adapters I get two different speeds. My one gets less than 30mbs and the one in my brothers room (next door to my room) gets between 60-90mbs. Both adapters are the same, I was just wondering if there is anything I could do to go the roughly the same speeds one both.

Re: Slow Speeds on Powerline adapter

Are all adapters plugged into their own sockets and not on extension leads?

Yes, each one of them are directly plugged into a wall socket.

Re: Slow Speeds on Powerline adapter

Assuming the speed difference is not caused by your device, it must be down to the topography of the wiring in your electricity circuit. In the simplest way, you're further away.

Re: Slow Speeds on Powerline adapter

any faults in the electricity line to your room can cause problems. swap the plugs over and see if the speeds stay the same. If so you can pretty much say your signal has to travel further than the other so you loose speed

Re: Slow Speeds on Powerline adapter

Brutalant has it right. One socket further away from centre may well have aggregated noise. It's the noise that has to be overcome that slows the speed.
