Router - Dead

Alas I think my router has kicked the bucket after 7 years of no problems, I think I put the kiss of death on it when saying to a work mate 'never had a problem with Virgin' LOL

Have an engineer booked to come out. Will they just swap it out for a replacement? do I get charged for it?

Any guidance appreciated

All repairs and/or replacements to VM equipment are free of charge provided you have not caused the fault by damaging the equipment or cabling.

I do not work for VM. The advice I give is based on my best understanding of VM policy and practice. You rely on it at your own risk.
