Hiltron CGNV4 - Remote Management

Hi,

I'm currently awaiting for my Hiltron to be installed. However going by some online manuals I couldn't find how to enable remote Management and on what port does it operate. Can anyone advise, plz?

Re: Hiltron CGNV4 - Remote Management

What makes you think that you can remotely manage the Hitron? The reason that the Hitron manual doesn't provide details is that thje protocols used enable VMB to manage the Hitron and indeed to some extend devices on your LAN.

Does that make sense?

Re: Hiltron CGNV4 - Remote Management

What I basically need is to http to the router from outside my Lan to open or change port forwarding whenever I need to. On all my routers so far I could easily do it. Sorry but no idea what VMB is.

Thanks

Re: Hiltron CGNV4 - Remote Management

VMB is Virgin Media Business.

Anyway there is no WAN side. Login you can do to the Hitron. At least not in the menus available to me.

Best bet is to set up a Remote Desktop Session link to a PC that you keep switched on and on the LAN and log in to the Hutron that way.

Re: Hiltron CGNV4 - Remote Management

but its what you need to do. if you are running a business ask your IT staff for help. Having a router open to the internet with no real security is bad. password attack against it will not lock it out after a number of wrong passwords. It wont take long to break in and then your in touble.
