Download speed on Windows 10 Wifi

Hi,

Wondering if anyone could help with this. Ill try and explain best I can...

Just had Vivid 200 installed and the Hub 3.0 sync speed is correct at 230Mbps.

On my windows 10 laptop with a b/g/n wifi card, my download speed (speedtest.net) is consistant at roughy 50Mbps.

I bought a TP Link archer t2u usb wifi dongle that is dual band and ac ready. The speed increased to 60Mbps.

I then wired the connection and got speeds of 90-100Mbps (10/100 ethernet card).

I then tested the connection on my 2007 iMac which has a b/g/n wifi card and get speeds of 135Mbps. The mac is further away from the router than the Laptop.

I understand that the n wireless cards can only get speeds of upto 150Mbps so 135Mbps on the mac is great. The Laptop 10/100 ethernet card can only give me a max of 100Mbps so wired connection is good to.

So, Im now left with two HP laptops, both running windows 10, both with b/g/n wifi cards. Both sit less than a meter away from the router. Both Laptops get 50Mbps download on speedtest.net.

My question is; 1. Why are these laptops underperforming and 2. how do i fix this issue.

Extra info:

One Laptop has 6GB RAM, 256GB SSD, with AMD V140 2.1GHz processor 64Bit
Other has 4GB RAM, Standard HDD, with AMD A4-5000 1.5Ghz processor 64Bit
iMac has 3GB RAM, 256GB SSD, with a Core Duo 2Ghz processor.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Download speed on Windows 10 Wifi

The Laptop with the TP-Link usb adapter - speed is 200Mbps

The other one is 72.2Mbps (this explains why this machine is only getting 50-60Mbps).

The iMacs link speed is 270Mbps.

Re: Download speed on Windows 10 Wifi

Looks like you probably need an update to your drivers, check out through windows what drivers they are using and do an internet search to see if they are the latest.

Re: Download speed on Windows 10 Wifi

I've tried changing channels and updating the drivers. Not much difference.
