You guys have had more than enough pathpings, tracert, downstream, upstream information and the issue still persists for people spread throughout the country. This isn't a local issue, this isn't an issue with a certain area, this is an issue with your network.

I know your standard response is to ask for this information, but you've asked it in every thread without putting two and two together - if multiple people are reporting this issue, surely this should be flagged as a higher priority incident that your third line teams need to investigate and resolve, because clearly there has been no communications that this has been happening so far.

Will you PLEASE acknowledge that the issue is with your network and contact your second/third line guys to investigate and perhaps get in contact with Blizzard Customer Support so the issue can be pinpointed to what is causing the problem - I have been happy with my Virgin Media services thus far however the handling of this issue is making me consider moving to a different ISP since you guys can't tell us that the issue is being looked into.

Re: World of Warcraft Disconnects - It's an issue with your network, not our routers

I have been getting disconnections for over a week making the game unplayable.  I have spoke to Virgin Media Customer service and they did a check saying there is no problem from this end.  I was advised to phone blizzard to see whats happening.  I have posted on their forums but not got a reply as yet.  Hope this gets sorted soon as I would hate having to find a new ISP Smiley Sad

Re: World of Warcraft Disconnects - It's an issue with your network, not our routers

Credit goes to razerbug for this information:

"I've already gone through the trace route, ping path, dig, ping testing all WoW's servers etc with Blizzard's support, who actually provide support (IE support tickets they actually answer, like the rest of us who call IT support our jobs are supposed to do instead making customers sort out each others problems on forums...) Blizzard support have tracked it back to Virgin's superhub targeting the WoW client as bittorrent and managing it aggressively. (instead of realizing it's a valid internet protocol, not pirate material by default...).

I've demonstrated that Virgin don't disconnect me when I route traffic through an VPN (although speeds are not playable via this method - as you'd expect) I've also tested and the disconnects are much less frequent when I take the superhub out of the equation, by putting my own router in place.

However this isn't viable as a fix as the landlord has the Virgin account, and controls the internet setup. The solution seems obvious here, turn off the superhub level draconian rules that are preventing users using the connection they pay for and rendering Virgin media not fit for purpose."

Until Virgin Media fix this issue of the WoW client being targetted as a bittorrent, there are two fixes you can try;

1. Use a different brand of router rather than your superhub to see if it resolves the issue

2. Get a trial of Hotspot Shield Elite (VPN program) and see if this resolves your issue - I have tested this software and it only adds 20ms to my WoW connection which is un-noticable ingame. You can either purchase the software for a month for £3 until Virgin sort it out, or £20 for a year.

I have gone for option 2 and decided to buy the program for a year in case this issue happens again in the future. The software is pretty solid and the price is extremely cheap.

Re: World of Warcraft Disconnects - It's an issue with your network, not our routers

So is the above post saying it's the hub that's to blame? Not sure it is, since if it was the hub, I'd have been having this issue from day one, rather than just the past couple of weeks like many others. Seems me that it's an problem is sitting on Virgins network.

I do agree with the OP though. We've jumped through all the usual hoops, most of which try to pin the problem was a local one, when it clearly isn't. It's about time Virgin Media steps up, admitted the issue is at their end, and that they'll work on a solution.

Seriously, my contract with Virgin Media expires in less than a month. If they can't get their house in order pretty damned soon, I'll walk, and give my business to a more worthy competitor. Move your ass Virgin Media. The clock is ticking.

This is my post on the WOW forums, I have done pathpings, trace routes.  Last night I disconnected once which was a major improvement.  I would just like someone to say heres the problem we're going to try and fix it rather than Virgin saying ring Blizzard and Blizzard saying everything is ok from their end.  Surely from all the info that is being provided a soloution can be found.

Blizzard say it's Virgin Media, Virgin Media say it's Blizzard.

I think it's Virgin Media.

Re: World of Warcraft Disconnects - It's an issue with your network, not our routers

Its not a problem with one game, its a major drop of all connectivity for about 1-2 seconds which causes any application using the net at that point to drop off with connectivity issues, was happening in my radio show last night and everything dropped and came back with in seconds. its the backbone network that has major issues as everyone knows and is "under advisement" of being upgraded etc. I know it takes a while to get planning permission etc but do what BT do and if your local exchange/cab is overloaded then just put people on a waiting list to get connected. oh wait VM is owned by a US company who all they care about is money. Im very tempted to move to BT but Im not sure that the grass is greener and all that as they say

I have posted on the EU forums for WoW and am also in the process of contacting Liberty Global (VM's parent company) and Trading Standards/OFCOM
