Left Virgin 8 years ago, virginmedia.com email still working. How do I close it down?
As per the title. I left Virgin Media about 8 years ago, but today I had an email forwarded from the associated virginmedia.com address. It was from a forum I'd registered with using that address, and the forum is one that seldom sends emails. So it appears the virginmedia.com email address is still active. I'd assumed Virgin would close it and set up forwarding to my current email address, which is how the virginmedia.com address ended up with me today. Now I want to log into it to see what else has been going there, check it hasn't been hacked or anything and close it. I've set up my new 'virginmedia02' ID, but it won't let me access my email because I don't have a current Virgin account (and won't have - I'm no longer in the UK). Virgin customer service (oh, how I remember them of old...) are elusive and guarded by a phalanx of useless AI. Ok, what's changed guys and what are we expected to do to resolve it or are you rolling back your change since its broken everything ? I have multiple email accounts (@blueyonder.co.uk) and they are all no longer working, not only that but i can't log onto your portal. My entire life uses these email addresses and is going to be a major, if possible at all, task to get myself sorted out with other email accounts, really not viable at all. I have been with you guys since telewest, so a very very long time. Can somebody get back to me asap please with a fix, explanation of this change and also why i wasn't even aware of something so drastic it warrantied a letter in advance. Hi Virgin Media team, I need help urgently with a double payment on my account. My bill was due 8 December. On 7 December, I logged into My Virgin Media and made a manual card payment for the full amount to make sure it was paid on time. However, on 8 December, the same bill amount was taken again from my card as a Direct Debit. Hey there, I am the primary account holder for my account. I created a subaccount many years ago for my son and he's used it ever since. Both accounts are ntlworld.com We noticed since the 20th October he's not been receiving rerouted emails to his gmail. To rectify this, we attempted to login on the website using the sub account. The last password we had does not work and the secret questions do not work, despite us knowing they're correct. We've tried to call a couple times but gotten nowhere, can someone here help us? We just need the password on the sub account resetting so he can log in again. The main account is linked, the sub account isn't. Hi. I’m a longstanding virgin broadband customer and many years ago I set-up blueyonder mailboxes for me and my wife. We believe my wife’s email has been hacked as it has been used to access other apps and sites and as of yesterday the email is no longer accessible as imap password is no longer recognised. My wife has never had a virgin media account (as far as we can remember) as the broadband account is in my name. When we have tried to register an account so she can manage her email account we can’t get in as we don’t recognise the email that the link is sent to - we assume this email has been changed by the hackers. All in all it is very confusing to work out what steps to take and we would appreciate support from your tech/fraud teams to regain access to the mailbox and ideally shut it down as it is compromised. I have been logged out of my emails on my phone, when I gone to enter the password nothing I put in is correct. Went to the virgin website to do 'forgotten password' I put in my email which is a virgin email date of birth & answer to my security question, double and triple checked everything is correct but it constantly tells me something is wrong and I can't change my password. There's no option to verify another way. Called Virgin and wasn't too helpful. All of the info is 100% correct as I used my memorable word when I called, so I'm at a loss of how I can get back into my account? So currently have no access to my e mail or VM account. I have been using the Outlook email client to access my virgin media email for a long time. I have changed the app password using the 4-hyphenated password generated under the account details tab several times successfully. Over the last few days the password stopped working and my attempts at using a new app password have failed. When I run the command line prompt: curl -v smtps://smtp.virginmedia.com -u mailto:"username":"app password", I receive the response 235 2.7.0 SMTP350 Authentication successful for user... The only other explanation could be that my IP address has been blocked by the server. However I can access my emails via the Virgin media website. So 2 questions: 1: Why does my app password spontaneously stop working? 2: How can I reconnect via the Outlook app, given that repeated app password changes are not working? What on earth ARE you doing VIRGIN? Your EMail system is in total disarray! We have three laptops, all up to date on Windows 11 and all using Outlook to access. Each one is now suddenly treating the connection very differently! Only one is now working to a virginmedia mail address, so forget it being only a legacy address issue. That one also still currently works to a very busy ntlworld address used for Freeware user contact. The other two have totally differing actions from the same virginmedia address, one now telling me there is unread mail, but not displaying it on Outlook OR online web access. This does not include one ntlworld connection severed without warning a year ago now, Despite numerous requests, NO help given, NOTHING offered. This was my wife's account used for extensive volunteer work, inc elderly and disabled people access. Killed stone dead without warning. It took months to get an alternative EMail system working elsewhere as many mail recipients just could not cope with the no warning sudden loss of all comms. SO, from other posts here and elsewhere numerous people are increasingly experiencing this sort of disaster from VIRGIN. Well, there IS a next stage if this unhelpful lack of action continues, and that is to go VERY public.
