VM phishing email but VM aren't interested
I get this email spam email regularly and I forward on to the phishing email address at VirginMedia, and this is their standard response: Thanks for checking in with us. We’re only able to confirm if emails sent from Virgin Media O2 are genuine. As the email you received appears to come from someone else, you’ll need to contact that company using their official contact details to check if it’s real. Treat the email with caution – don’t click on any links or share personal details until you’ve confirmed it’s genuine. Need more help? Get in touch with our team here. Take care, The Virgin Media O2 team Does VM not do anything about scammers pretending to be VM any more? Or is this just another indication that VM is washing its hands of its email service altogether and you just can't be bothered to do anything about it?32Views0likes4CommentsDodgy Support Call (Spam ?)
Just had a call from 07[MOD EDIT: Removed] - someone claiming to be from Virgin Media support and saying that they are seeing lots of errors on my router and internet connection. When I challenged him about what he was wanting me to do (connect to a website etc) he called me a mother*beep* and hung up. I hope that we wasn't a legitimate VM employee !86Views0likes3CommentsVirgin calling from a 0788 number
Hi, I received this text after I started an order by clicking on third party deals aggregator don’t recall which one it was. “Hello, You recently made an online application for Virgin Media services. To complete your order please give me a call. kerry on 07885479730” I called and got a “pre contract”. Kerry asked me to setup up a phone pin, and asked for my account details to setup my direct debit. I think it’s legit but I stopped the process cause it seemed fishy. I then received a “pre contract” in my email looking legit too send by webteam@virginmedia.com is this a scam?2KViews0likes12CommentsIs this number a genuine VM contact

I have been having constant calls from people claiming that they are from marketing. The number is +44 800 052 1251. I get these calls every single day and they are usually around the same time each day. If I don’t pick up they keep calling me till I do. Iv googled the number which tells me that this is a virgin media phone number. Has anyone else experienced this ?92Views0likes3Commentsphone calls from (VM apparently) probably scams?
OK, so, had 3 phone calls today so far, from this number, and a foreign female stating 'she was calling from Virgin Media with regards to my account, and needed to verfiy my account' Now she didn't ask for anyone by name, or give any details about the account. Initially I was very wary of her, and refused to continue the conversation, and hung up. She called again a few moments later, and repeated the same dialogue, but I again hung up without answering this time. Persistant, she then called again 5 minutes later, and tried again. Again I didn't engage with her, and hung up. Obviously a scam, as VM don't call customers!! Number was a mobile, : 0794637xxxx [Mod - number edited in case innocent number being spoofed]86Views0likes2CommentsRecent possible scam call
Earlier today I was called by 0800 052 8675 after they had been trying me for a few days. The woman on the line was speaking fast and I had trouble hearing, but she offered me an upgraded package for supposedly the same price as mine was due to increase in two weeks time. This would include faster broadband speed and something that would require an extra plug in that I didn't quite follow. I did not hand over any financial details but was stupid and gave over my address. They have followed up with a text confirming the upgrade and a yodel tracking link, as well as an email from webteam@virginmedia.com with additional documents, neither of which I have opened. It all seemed a bit vague, so I was hoping that somebody here could provide some clarity.89Views0likes2CommentsIs this a scam?
I received a call today from a man on 07496 429392 saying to be from Virgin media, asking if the SIM and broadband I ordered are working as it said pending setup, they have both been active for a couple of weeks so I said they were working and he said he'd update the system and finished the call. He called back a couple of minutes later asking me to confirm the address on the account (I have had some issues with the address being wrong and Volt not activating which should, but hasn't, have been sorted). I did and he said it's not what he has and it needs to be updated or my internet could be switched off. He listed addresses he had in from of him for my property, some included correct ones, some were not. He asked me to go and confirm what is on my tenancy agreement and to call him back on that number and he'd update it for me. Is this legit? It's just confirming the address for an issue I do actually have.Solved1.1KViews0likes2CommentsVirgin sales agent skulking on my property
I want to check that a door sales agent which visited my property a few minutes ago is genuine. I didn't answer the door or speak to him, but have recordings of him on 2 security cameras. He walked up my drive, hesitated near the front door and then looked down the side of my house and walked down there - did not knock or ring the door bell. He then walked around to the back door, obviously looking at my garden and shed and those of my neighbours. He then knocked at the back door quietly- ignoring the doorbell. He then spent about 20 seconds having more of a look around the back gardens, before returning around the side of my house to the front door to post a card through the front door - still not knocking or ringing the doorbell. He was wearing a red virgin fleece. The virgin sales card has a name and mobile number on it. I want to find out if he's genuine and make a complaint about him. His weird behaviour makes it obvious that he's sneaking around looking for things to steal, and in any case I have prominent notices on the front door stating that I do not want any door sales people to disturb me and do not want junk mail. The name on the card is [MOD EDIT: PERSONAL INFORMATION REMOVED] and the phone number on the card is [MOD EDIT: PERSONAL INFORMATION REMOVED] [MOD EDIT: Personal and private information has been removed from this post. Someone called my landlines saying they are from virginmedia (called from 07*********) and they said they can see there are a "lot of faults" on the line. They got me to do a speed test (which showed my speed is fine) and then wanted me to download an app called anydesk so they can "fix" the problem. I stopped them there and called it a scam and hung up. No way a remote access tool can diagnose or fix anything on the broadband line that they can't fix from their side and am not giving remote access to anyone anyway. [MOD EDIT: Number removed]800Views1like1Comment
