Virgin calling from a 0788 number

Hi, I received this text after I started an order by clicking on third party deals aggregator don’t recall which one it was.

“Hello, You recently made an online application for Virgin Media services. To complete your order please give me a call. kerry on 07885479730”

 

I called and got a “pre contract”. Kerry asked me to setup up a phone pin, and asked for my account details to setup my direct debit. I think it’s legit but I stopped the process cause it seemed fishy. I then received a “pre contract” in my email looking legit too send by webteam@virginmedia.com

is this a scam?

        Hi. 
        I had the same thing too, same nuance same number. When I check virgin media on the website it says I can’t have your services, but the lady on the phone said I can.
