Scam mobile calls from India on landline
I have started receiving a lot of calls from supposed UK mobile numbers (a different number every time), 20 calls to date, all between 09:00 and 17:00 Mon-Fri. Initially we answered the calls as we did not know who was calling, lately we have just let them go to voicemail. When you answer the phone it is always someone saying they are from Virgin Media and that there is an issue with the broadband connection, when challenged to tell me who I am and where I live they immediately hang up. The calls are from a call centre, you can hear the chatter in the background and appear to be from (I'm guessing) India or similar. It is very annoying and worrying as my wife's parents are both nearly 90 and not very well and they are normally the only people who ring us on the landline - we don't give the number out anywhere as we use our mobiles for everything - it stresses my wife as soon as the phone rings before you can see who the caller is. How can we stop these people calling? It is obvious that they are international calls and that the numbers are being spoofed and changed every time, so it is pointless blocking the numbers as they never repeat. 07850 0914xx, 07938 5829xx, 07775 8906xx 07891 3825xx, 07786 5401xx, 07815 7318xx, 07891 4093xx, 07847 4772xx, 07514 9048xx, 07803 4932xx, 07548 0010xx, 07399 6596xx, 07901 3336xx, 07425 0149xx, 07595 2257xx, 07835 2450xx, 07557 2382xx, 07710 8234xx, 07886 2952xx, 07956 6167xx. p.s. OK, so, had 3 phone calls today so far, from this number, and a foreign female stating 'she was calling from Virgin Media with regards to my account, and needed to verfiy my account' Now she didn't ask for anyone by name, or give any details about the account. Initially I was very wary of her, and refused to continue the conversation, and hung up. She called again a few moments later, and repeated the same dialogue, but I again hung up without answering this time. Persistant, she then called again 5 minutes later, and tried again. Again I didn't engage with her, and hung up. Obviously a scam, as VM don't call customers!! Hi, I received this text after I started an order by clicking on third party deals aggregator don’t recall which one it was. “Hello, You recently made an online application for Virgin Media services. To complete your order please give me a call. kerry on 07885479730” I called and got a “pre contract”. Kerry asked me to setup up a phone pin, and asked for my account details to setup my direct debit. I think it’s legit but I stopped the process cause it seemed fishy. I then received a “pre contract” in my email looking legit too send by webteam@virginmedia.com is this a scam?1.7KViews0likes8CommentsNetflix Account hacked and locked (Linked to Virgin Media Subscription)
I pay for my Netflix account as part of my Virgin Media subscription / package. My Netflix account has been hacked and the hacker has changed my email address to log into Netflix. If I try to log into Netflix with my email address, it says the account doesn't exist. When I access the Netflix app via Virgin Media on my TV, it is pin protected and the home screen is in a different language. I've tried everything to reset the account etc and I'm hitting a brick wall as it seems everything has been changed. Can anyone assist?46Views0likes2CommentsRecent possible scam call
Earlier today I was called by 0800 052 8675 after they had been trying me for a few days. The woman on the line was speaking fast and I had trouble hearing, but she offered me an upgraded package for supposedly the same price as mine was due to increase in two weeks time. This would include faster broadband speed and something that would require an extra plug in that I didn't quite follow. I did not hand over any financial details but was stupid and gave over my address. They have followed up with a text confirming the upgrade and a yodel tracking link, as well as an email from webteam@virginmedia.com with additional documents, neither of which I have opened. It all seemed a bit vague, so I was hoping that somebody here could provide some clarity.67Views0likes2CommentsHad VM Business Broadband for only 2 months, experiencing MAJOR stress
About 2 months ago i switched from VM Personal to VM BUSINESS as my contract (which i had renewed for about 7 or so years) was about to expire and found a “wonderful” value contract with virgin business, and it was at a higher broadband speed than my previous contract. In BOLD it stated i only owe “£14.50” every month, which was great, however when i received my first bill, it was for £69.95 which is outrageous and i get very anxious about money especially in this cost of living crisis, so i phoned up and after many unprofessional callers handlers whod just shout at my face and end the call, i finally had a friendly handler who assured me theyd charge no more than 14.50 on my billing day. They also raised a complain internally to have this fixed and 2 days later i got a response from their manager at the HR department apologising and again, assuring me they wouldnt charge me the £69.95. Bearing in mind this whole ordeal took about a week to get sorted, i felt relieved HOWEVER i came to check my bank account was almost empty after seeing they LIED through their teeth and did charge me the amount a week later. At this point i was fed up after 20 ignored calls and others telling me i got the wrong department when i very much didnt, and i received another bill, this tome for £12, before the month was up. I was again confused and checked they charged me £4 of this for a PAPER invoice. I called them up AGAIN, to receive another rude reply from every handler, blaming me for everything and ended the call on me? i am so frustrated and upset, i will be contacting the Communications Ombudsman if this doesnt get resolved, after being a loyal customer for 7 years, never missing a payment, this is how they treat me.Aklamio is a scam.
Hi, I recently joined Virgin Media on a referral from a friend. He and I both signed up to the Aklamio rewards, both received our confirmation e-mails but no reward was ever paid. I have spoken to Aklamio and they are claiming, despite my sending them the confirmation e-mail of the reward registration and all pertinent details, that no registration was ever made. I have seen many folks on these forums with the same issue so it should be known to Virgin that they are, in fact, working with a scam company. It's a particularly bad image to work hand in hand with a company openly committing fraud against your customers.280Views0likes6CommentsContract upgrade issues
Our contract is up on the 30th December. We signed up and the intial 18 month deal is coming to an end. On the 27th November we logged into our account on the Virgin Media website and checked out the "upgrade deals for you". We saw one for 1gig broadband for £41.12 per month, just over £5 a month more than what we are currently paying. We went through the order and received pre contract documents and we told to receive a new hub and the new contract would start within 7-10 days. We've not heard a single thing since. There's no orders on our account and a few days ago I contacted the live chat team and over the course of TWO HOURS was told it can take up to 15 days for orders to be processed. A couple of days ago we received a bill for nearly £68, as our initial contract would be carrying on. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AS WE HAD ALREADY SIGNED UP TO UPGRADE! Today I have got back onto the live chat and been called 'Richard' which shows that my messages aren't being read, my problem is t being dealt with and to add even more insult have been told that the best deal we can get is £51 a month. When the one we signed up for was £41.12. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!Solved2KViews0likes12CommentsIMFS debt collectors for mysterious bill from 2021
Hi, I have today received phone calls, emails and now text messages from IMFS debt collectors claiming I have unpaid bills from virgin media broadband dating back to may 2021. We moved house and I cancelled our package as VM couldn't provide a service at the new address. I thought I paid all bills and i also sent back our router. I received no correspondence from VM about unpaid bills, so v confused. I phoned VM today and they told me its probably a scam and to ignore, but having googled the companies name, it looks genuine. They are telling me virgin media have sold the debt to them & passed on all my personal info to them. VM are saying they can't email me confirmation that my closing account is cleared with no outstanding bills. Looking for a speedy resolution pls as v stressed and being hounded by the so called debt collectorsSolved18KViews1like50Comments
