Recent packet loss and large ping spikes
Hi. I have recently (maybe in the past month or so, unsure when it specifically started) been experiencing random ping spikes and packet loss, making the internet unusable for several minutes, this includes web pages never loading and online games becoming unplayable due to the high ping and packet loss. This occurs seemingly at random, for about 2 minutes, and then returns to normal, until the next time it happens. I've been with virgin in my current property for over 2 years and have never had issues like this before, I'd maybe have ping spikes once every 4-5 months for a few seconds, and then return to normal but nothing like this. I am on a wired connection to my router, and as stated above, this has been basically flawless up until about a month ago. I've used thinkbroadband.com to get some graphs for my internet over the past week or so, and you can clearly see where the issues are occurring. I've attached graphs for these dates, in reverse order (not sure why they uploaded like this) Sunday 1st June (Now) -> Saturday 31st May -> etc. etc. -> Monday 26th May I hope someone can help. For the last 2 days I’ve been having issues with my Virgin broadband and my ps5, all speed checks etc come back fine but whenever a game needs to request data from a server or connect to a server there is connectivity issues which either fails or takes forever. Ive tried contacting Virgin who says there is an issue with an error saying “Hub levels out of spec - engineer required” but I’ve now seen multiple posts on Reddit all have issues and the only thing in common is Virgin broadband. I have tried everything i can think of so any suggestions would be appreciated. tried a reset, modem mode, turning off smart channel, trying a guest network, port forwarding, wired, wireless, messing with settings on the router itself but it works perfectly fine on my hotspot so i know this is a virgin issue with ps5sPacket loss
Been getting packet loss for at least 4 months now consistently , Currently on hub 5 router mode, upgraded plan to Gigabit broadband, changed ethernet cable and tried tp link powerline adapters none of them yet to fix my issue. Notes: Gets alot worse when more people are on the wifi. The later in the day the more packets get lost it seems. (Tests taken at 7pm) currently using an ethernet cable from router to computer for this test.Consistent network disconnection only when attempting to play games
I've been dealing with persistent network disconnections that only occur when playing online games. This issue has been ongoing for about four weeks and has become increasingly frequent. While gaming, the router intermittently loses its internet connection, but the connection stabilizes once I stop playing. I'm using a wired connection to my router and have attempted multiple troubleshooting steps. I've reset the router both via the recessed reset button and by unplugging it, but neither method has helped. I even upgraded to new Cat8 Ethernet cables, yet the issue persists.Latency Spikes
Hi all, had VM installed around 10 days ago now, I have the Hub 5x, whether it’s wireless, or with Ethernet hooked up to my Xbox (which is the main annoyance) I have high latency spikes that last around 10 seconds, I would say these occur around every 30 minutes, now that may not sound awful but for a competitive gamer it can get quite frustrating, is there any way to fix this, when I run the ping test on CMD the ping spikes to over 2000, and when I log in online to view my Hub 5x settings, when I run the network diagnostic tool, it says that my home network has a few problems, and it highlights the part saying “checking Ethernet connections” I’ve read quite a few of the posts involving latency spikes and the only one that seemed like a fix was to do with changing the settings, and unfortunately it was from 6 years ago so was quite outdated, I’ve also seen people requesting tests etc, now even though I’m a gamer I’m not quite the tech wizard, so if you request these things in the replies, could you explain it easily for me as I do have a hard time following instructions sometimes.Ethernet, gaming problems
Hello all, I recently got a new router put in the house and I ran a diagnostics test the other day to see why my game input felt slightly delayed for my gaming pc. It turns out there is a problem with the ethernet (and wifi)? I use tp links could this just be the problem although they seemed to be fine with the old router.High Ping in online gaming (PS5)
Hey, I’m struggling with really high ping in online gaming, varies between 48-90 ping then sometimes shoots to 121ping. I play on my own servers I’ve tried everything possible I even have ExpressVPN router connected thinking that would help the ping but it’s still the same ping. I play on PS5 with Ethernet. Hi, I'm currently a Virgin Media internet subscriber to a package with speeds of 1000mbps down and 50mbps up. In terms of speeds, my internet has been perfect since first getting it. However, over the last few months my internet has degraded when playing multiplayer games. When playing titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Rocket League, and even Forza Horizon 5, ping previously was consistently around 20ms-30ms depending on servers etc. Now, my ping can randomly spike: sometimes as low as 40-50ms, sometimes as high as 800-900ms. Its getting to the point where multiplayer games are unplayable. I'm of the belief that its oversubscription but I'm hoping that its a router problem and that it can be fixed by purchasing a better router, but I don't want to make that investment until I know. I recently just a a hub 5 installed as I had a hub 3 before as I’ve had speeds dropping but also really high latency and lag when gaming, I’m still having the issue with the new hub and I use a cat 8 Ethernet cable which is brand new and a new console, gaming is just unplayable and been going on for months now. I have a WiFi pod but doesn’t make a difference and not sure what to now.Massive lag spikes, rubber banding when playing Battlefield 2042
Hello For the past three days I've had to reboot my Hub 4 every time I want to play Battlefield 2042. If I don't I get massive lag spikes, rubber banding and higher than normal latency. I've also been playing World of Warcraft and that plays fine. Once I reboot the Hub it is fine. Any idea what could be causing this?
