If the Hub 5 is a variant of the Sagecom F3896 device, it looks as if 10Mbps is not available on the faster 2.5Gbps port but is on the x3 1Gbps ports

This makes sense to me as there's no need for the 2.5Gbps port to support 10Mbps when the other three do it. I expect the same applies for the hub 5X's 10Gbps port.

Have you tried a 10/100 switch connected to one of the VM Hub's three 1Gb/s ports and the Tado ?

A device like this : TP-Link 5 Port Network Switch

Thank you for popping back to us @Davey47 and I am so sorry this issue has continued, also a big thank you to our community for their help here.

I've not been able to locate your account via the forum details so I'm going to pop you a PM so we can grab some information and take a closer look. I will pop you a PM across now, please keep an eye out for the envelope at the top of your screen alerting you to a new message.

Did this issue get resolved?

I am having the exact same issue having switched to VM recently...Luckily I found an old wifi extender with an ethernet port that does appear to do the job but it is temperamental. I really don't see why a customer should be spending more money to provide a bodge when an IP's HUB should have at least one port capable of some backward compatibility or a means to provide this supplied by the IP. VM support links always appear to send me back to this post without any clear answers from their own technical support, rather opinions of what might work from (what I am sure are very knowledgeable) fellow customers.

Solved long ago.

Use any device that will recreate a 10/100 or 10/100/1000 connection from the Hub 5 and you are back in business.

VM and the Heating kit makers equally created confusion by omitting to specify the speeds supported on their network sockets.

Also avoid the Hub 5 2.5Gb/s port, the latest firmware means that may not work satisfactorily.
