  • Did this issue get resolved?

I am having the exact same issue having switched to VM recently...Luckily I found an old wifi extender with an ethernet port that does appear to do the job but it is temperamental. I really don't see why a customer should be spending more money to provide a bodge when an IP's HUB should have at least one port capable of some backward compatibility or a means to provide this supplied by the IP. VM support links always appear to send me back to this post without any clear answers from their own technical support, rather opinions of what might work from (what I am sure are very knowledgeable) fellow customers.

    Solved long ago.

Use any device that will recreate a 10/100 or 10/100/1000 connection from the Hub 5 and you are back in business.

VM and the Heating kit makers equally created confusion by omitting to specify the speeds supported on their network sockets.

Also avoid the Hub 5 2.5Gb/s port, the latest firmware means that may not work satisfactorily.

  • I've actually solved this

For me I could not get a 10/100 or 10/100/1000 tp link to place nice (some people (including tado )  are reporting this works).  I could not get error mesh to play nice.  Virgin won't let you connect non Virgin modems.  Arguably a hub 3 or 4 may work, but they are shutting down support for 3 and the 4 will follow at some point.

Then I tried a Wifi extender with a Ethernet port (another tado suggestion) - they can work in reverse - latch onto wifi and feed a network over cat cable to your tado internet bridge (the one I chose TP-Link TL-WA850RE N300Mbps).  I'm no expert and it took 2 attempts - but after days of misery - it worked within 20 minutes.  Of course some reviews of the TP link are not complimentary in that it hobbles wifi networks - but I'll leave that problem if I get it for another day

This problem was solved several years ago and in a much more concise post.
