More info on backup EBUL device

So I switched from sky to virgin in November, they've fitted an EBUL the newest one, anyone got more info on how it works? I get as plugged in it's a landline until failure then it works of the SIM. ...

    When there is a power or network outage the EBUL works by using its SIM card to make calls. If you need something like a Telecare device to work in these circumstances the provider should assist you, and my belief is that a GSM alarm unit will be offered with a SIM card already installed.

    So it's always a different number? When failure the SIM kicks in and you have to call the SIM number not the landline when there's a failure? And the same if I call out on backup SIM mode it will be the SIM number not the landline?

      You cannot have a SIM with a landline number using a mobile network. There is no access to Virgin's headend exchanges when the street infrastructure goes down due to equipment failure or power failure at your house or the street cabinets,  so the most reliable option is to use the mobile networks. This is also true of BT & all other operators conventional landlines that are now being replaced. Telecare systems have had to come up with their own solutions to this, so you need to contact them for assistance.
