Using Deco S4 with TP Link Archer AX72

Hi,

I've got my Virgin Media Hub 5 in Modem mode and have connected my Archer AX72 router to it.

The AX72 router is in my office and hardwired to my PC and console and all other devices are connected via Wi-Fi from the Archer AX72. I want to connect my cable box and TV in my living room via ethernet. Can I buy the S4 an connect it to my AX72? If so shall I have the S4 in Access mode or Router mode? Will the devices around the house still work via Wi-Fi from the Archer or will I need to connect to the Wi-Fi on the Deco S4?

Kind of new to these things so any suggestions and help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Refreshing a setup for what most should do

So its simple you just connect one S4 to AX72 with a second S4 for the TV not sure if you can get away with one S4 for the TV and the S4 links up to AX72 best ask the TP link community.

and you can connect to either AX72 or S4

It would be best to run an Ethernet cable to where the TV gear is and use a switch to distribute.  However if you do use a satellite S4 that should be in AP mode with the same SSID and password as your existing Hub.  This will allow roaming around the house.

Connecting the cable box and TV via network cables to a Wi-Fi Mesh node is still Wi-Fi, it is just using the Mesh node as an external Wi-Fi adaptor.

The S4 should replace the AX72. As these mesh units typically work best in router mode, keep the hub in modem mode. It's best for the S4 nodes to be connected by Ethernet cable for wired backhaul.
