Just seen the announcement of Sky Sports+.
Doesn't seem to mention Virgin Media anywhere. Curious if there's going to be an update regarding this for us customers paying for Sky Sports on Virgin.
First press release I have seen about Sky Sports + outside of Sky.

Would be good if we got some answers to this. I asked on another question yesterday as well as sent a Tweet to Virgin Media on Twitter(X)

Hoping we get some answers soon radio silence on social media and Sky seem to only pushing the narrative it's a Sky/Now TV thing. Hope we do get it. Not sure how whether it'll be part of the home button section maybe a separate category to pick the streams or via a Sky Sports App on the box or even a fast channel!
All the hints that are dropping from this page is that the facility is already integrated into Sky Stream, Sky Glass & SkyQ. All of these use the same background internet streaming app that is now loaded onto V360 & Virgin Stream, & should follow onto TiVO V6 later this year. Likewise the Sky Sports app is accessible to Virgin customers already.
My feelings are this is just a revamp/relaunch of what we already have with access to a lot more streamed content.
Lets hope this is the case. It does seem to look like a pretty decent addition. Especially being able to stream so much more content (football for me). It will be launching to coincide with the new footie season from what I can tell as well.
This looks like the key paragraph. "Sky Sports+ will make it easier for fans to browse, discover and watch the sport they love, while the dedicated Sky Sports+ linear channel will showcase a selection of the best live sport."
So, no new content.
Hi guys, Sky are launching a new Sky Sports streaming service in August called Sky Sports+ (Sky Sports Plus). Does anyone have and information as to whether this service will be available to Virgin Media customers?

VM never announce things until just before they happen, if at all. As per my previous post above, everything is in place already to provide the new service with the exception of the older V6 boxes, for which there is an update in the pipeline.

I phoned VM today and they are arranging for my V6 box to be upgraded to a 360 and send a new remote out. I believe from what I’ve read that a 360 is needed as the V6 upgrade will be later. I hasten to add, this is what I believe, I may well be wrong.

If they can talk you into migrating, believe me they will. It may not be necessary, but the start of the new football season is a way away yet.

this is correct. Sky Sports+ is not going to work on older Virgin (or Sky) boxes, including V6 (and Sky+)
On the assumption this is correct, how will those with a V6 box access the new service?
life long history of Virgin and Sky not actually working together for the greater good.
Virgin Media TV customers who subscribe to Sky Sports will have access to Sky Sports+ when it launches in August.
This does not indicate this will be on the tv or via a red button this leaves it to be seen that we are going to be using the sky sports app to watch the football via our virgin logins.

So sorry to quote the above message but I think it should answer your question: We’ve decided that until the new red button app is available for the v6 and TiVo boxes we’ll keep the old app available. This means you’ll still be able to watch the EFL matches via the red button, but you won’t have the enhanced F1 and Tennis functionality until we roll out the new red button app to these boxes.
Once the updated app is available we will alert customers, thank you. "

After receiving different messages, I emailed Virgin and they emailed me back telling me I would be able to get the extra games on my V6 box. I think I’ll have to wait and see because I’m dubious but I really don’t want 360.
From what I’ve read it seems there are mixed messages from VM, a case of who you speak to. As my team is in the Championship and based on extensive research I decided to go for the 360. It’s taken a while to get used to but I’m happy enough with it. The only minus for me is the loss of recording programs I might like. I had The Stones and Bowie setup to record whenever their name came up in the info. The biggest plus is Disney and Apple in the menus and being able to use speech instead of typing.
I can understand you holding back but to put your mind at rest, should you decide late to change, the new remote comes through very quickly. My son pressed the upgrade on Friday and the new remotes came on the following Wednesday.
What they actually mean @ryansm is you can keep your v6 box BUT the 360 software will need ro be installed(updated/upgraded) on there
