No Dial Tone

We had a message on our home number which said 'Check Phone Line' and there is no dial tone. All the cables are fully in the sockets with power and new batteries. I suspect there is a fault as we had crackling for a number of days before the phone went completely dead. How do I book an engineer? The main line is connected to the main telephone socket.

        We're now waiting for the engineer - will let you know in PM if they turn up (as it's not on a schedule on the virgin website)
