Suggestions from a recent Sky user
Long time Sky user who finally made the switch. On the whole it's a comparable experience (better than expected to be honest as heard it wasn't as good), but there's some very small niggles that could really improve the user experience. So, in the vague hope someone from Virgin reads this, here goes (in no particular order). Software feedack: For the love of God, allow me to turn off the "Watch live/Watch from start" pop-up from the guide! Should be watch live by default INHO, and right click to watch from start. Or what Sky does and have a "watch from start" option AFTER you switch channel. When you press home button and press right and left to flip through the top-level options I think they should auto flick though them, rather than require a click to do this. I dunno why this upsets me so! :-) TV guide a little slow to refresh when using page up/page down. Would love Picture in Picture of other channel when going through the on-screen info bar (Watch channel, press OK to bring up info bar, press up and down to view other channels). Remote feedback: Probably just a matter of me getting used to it, but I find the remote a little difficult to feel my place on it. A gap before or after the rewind, play/pause, fast forward buttons would help me pressing the wrong buttons. The button to flick between last two watch channels is great! But only discovered it recently. Could do with an Info button to get more info on current programme/currently selected program. Would prefer the mute button nearer the volume buttons. Microphone button on every remote by default and bluetooth on every remote by default (instead of optional extras only on some remotes!) is much appreciated. White TV on/off button seems kinda pointless. And kids taking a while getting used to just using the red one! Hope that's useful feedback!135Views2likes9CommentsStream power adapter missing
I've had a Stream box sitting unused since I set up my broadband (as I had no need for it). I've just tried to install it finally this morning and found there's no power adapter in the box. Is there a way to request a new power adapter by itself? I've tied the Virgin help chatbot doesn't seem to be able to answer any questions about equipment or even seem to know that Stream exists. I'm actually trying to move over to a Stream Box from an existing V6/360 box because of ongoing issues with boxes always overheating and fan noise/HDD noise. I don't need the recording feature of the existing box, and something that runs much quieter and cooler would be idea. I rang customer services figuring it would be a welcome request as the 360 boxes are being killed off anyway. I was told it is not possible, the only way to do it was an additional £10/month fee and have it as a second box. This seems ridiculous. I'm actually trying to do VM a favour here as one of these days their dodgy hardware is going to set my house on fire. I was also hoping the Stream Box, which uses a different distribution mechanism (the broadband line not the dedicated TV coax) may resolve the sounds and sync issues which have emerged over the last few weeks and for which I am still awaiting a report back on some sort of fix. Was the customer service droid accurate, or could he just not be **bleep** doing what was necessary to recreate the existing package with a Stream Box rather than V6/360?253Views0likes8CommentsStream box
Hi, can someone tell me why my stream box is causing my tv standby light to flash. I've had it a while but never used it till now, I've tried turning everything off for a while and then plugging it back in but it is still happening. We recently switched from Sky, where we'd been a customer for over 10 years. We hadn't realised when we switched that we'd only get the Stream box and that we can't record. At first it wasn't an issue, but not everything becomes available on the watchlist, and my husband is annoyed that we are paying for Sky Sports but he can't watch later if we're out; on Sky he'd be able to record his football matches and watch later in the day. This is the main reason why we wondered if it's possible to get a set top box to be able to record. Considering the additional cost for Sports it feels like a slap in the face to not be able to watch it later. Sky made us send back our Sky Q boxes so we can't switch back, and new contracts now only have their version of Stream! Why are these companies charging us so much money but we're losing the ability to record our entertainment to watch when we want?!402Views0likes1CommentSecond box. How is it powered?
We’ve got a 360 box for the living room, but I’d also like to be able to watch live TV on our set in the kitchen. Does the streaming box do this? I want to avoid having to use all the individual streaming apps to change channels. We’ve got two plug sockets available, one for TV and one for the soundbar. Received new stream box today as the one I’ve had for 2 months has never connected for more than a few hours and was faulty. Having spent an hour today in the phone getting the new stream box set up (rebooting the WiFi etc) as it wouldn’t find the stream, the same issue is happening. Either the tv doesn’t find the source or when I get onto virgin I either get not connected to the WiFi or no channels. The internet is connected. I have the Ethernet cable in too and have tried both connections. To get it to work again if the tv gets turned off means Resetting the modem, reconnecting the box and generally taking ages. Anyone else had issues like this as it’s beyond ridiculous. I have recently upgraded my services and now have a stream box. I have downloaded the TV Control app and once I input my log in details it gives me an error message that reads “No valid Tv control account found”. Hi, I have tried all the troubleshooting tips, full reset, etc, and it just will not start. It is connected to my router with the hub in modem mode. It used to work, then one day, I turn off the power, and it cannot get past the advanced setup screen you get by holding down the button.
