Adding a stream box to the existing system
Hi. We have 2 full Virgin TV 360 boxes downstairs and also a TV Mini box upstairs which is able to play recordings from both 360 boxes. We have 1 gig virgin broadband as well as a home phone. Is it possible to add a streaming box to the system so we can watch recordings and other channels from the main boxes on another TV upstairs? The house has Ethernet cable throughout. hi, my stream box keeps turning off and the issue is getting worse, especially when using Netflix and live TV. I receive a message on my TV that the box is off as no connection identified, despite it still showing a white light on the box itself but I have to reboot the whole box a couple of times to get it working again. anyone else had this issue? Looking at U&Gold, and programmes such as Dad's Army and Porridge. The live channel is correct and is showing them in 4:3 aspect ratio, and the box switches correctly. Virgin's catch up for U&Gold is currently incorrectly stretching the picture and showing them as 16:9. There are versions of Dad's Army on both iPlayer and ITVX which are correctly displayed, albeit in a 16:9 picture with black pillarbox bars down each side.69Views0likes2CommentsSuggestions from a recent Sky user
Long time Sky user who finally made the switch. On the whole it's a comparable experience (better than expected to be honest as heard it wasn't as good), but there's some very small niggles that could really improve the user experience. So, in the vague hope someone from Virgin reads this, here goes (in no particular order). Software feedack: For the love of God, allow me to turn off the "Watch live/Watch from start" pop-up from the guide! Should be watch live by default INHO, and right click to watch from start. Or what Sky does and have a "watch from start" option AFTER you switch channel. When you press home button and press right and left to flip through the top-level options I think they should auto flick though them, rather than require a click to do this. I dunno why this upsets me so! :-) TV guide a little slow to refresh when using page up/page down. Would love Picture in Picture of other channel when going through the on-screen info bar (Watch channel, press OK to bring up info bar, press up and down to view other channels). Remote feedback: Probably just a matter of me getting used to it, but I find the remote a little difficult to feel my place on it. A gap before or after the rewind, play/pause, fast forward buttons would help me pressing the wrong buttons. The button to flick between last two watch channels is great! But only discovered it recently. Could do with an Info button to get more info on current programme/currently selected program. Would prefer the mute button nearer the volume buttons. Microphone button on every remote by default and bluetooth on every remote by default (instead of optional extras only on some remotes!) is much appreciated. White TV on/off button seems kinda pointless. And kids taking a while getting used to just using the red one! Hope that's useful feedback!186Views2likes9CommentsStream power adapter missing
I've had a Stream box sitting unused since I set up my broadband (as I had no need for it). I've just tried to install it finally this morning and found there's no power adapter in the box. Is there a way to request a new power adapter by itself? I've tied the Virgin help chatbot doesn't seem to be able to answer any questions about equipment or even seem to know that Stream exists. I'm actually trying to move over to a Stream Box from an existing V6/360 box because of ongoing issues with boxes always overheating and fan noise/HDD noise. I don't need the recording feature of the existing box, and something that runs much quieter and cooler would be idea. I rang customer services figuring it would be a welcome request as the 360 boxes are being killed off anyway. I was told it is not possible, the only way to do it was an additional £10/month fee and have it as a second box. This seems ridiculous. I'm actually trying to do VM a favour here as one of these days their dodgy hardware is going to set my house on fire. I was also hoping the Stream Box, which uses a different distribution mechanism (the broadband line not the dedicated TV coax) may resolve the sounds and sync issues which have emerged over the last few weeks and for which I am still awaiting a report back on some sort of fix. Was the customer service droid accurate, or could he just not be **bleep** doing what was necessary to recreate the existing package with a Stream Box rather than V6/360?373Views0likes8CommentsStream box
Hi, can someone tell me why my stream box is causing my tv standby light to flash. I've had it a while but never used it till now, I've tried turning everything off for a while and then plugging it back in but it is still happening.
