Change IMAP password for Ntlworld email
Hi, I would like to change the password for my ntlworld email to improve security. I went ahead and changed the password for my virgin media login and this has successfully updated the password to log in to my email online. However the old password is still associated with my IMAP server so this is still used when adding to email applications such as outlook. would anyone be able to inform how to change the password for my IMAP please? Hi, We’re having a problem with my mum’s account. She has had an ntlworld email address for over two decades and my parents are still virgin media customers, but my mum can no longer access her email account on her Google phone as it keeps asking ‘correct credentials needed - enter credentials for *******@ntlworld.com’ We have followed the whole process, try to put the details in on her phone and another error message pops up with ‘Problem with account setup - your username or password is incorrect’. We’ve gone into the Virgin media page online and entered another non-VM account for her to verify her ntlworld account through, then get ‘Your Virgin Media Mail account is currently unavailable’. Myself and my sister (a software developer) are stumped about how to help our mum! Hi, I’ve several email accounts on my Outlook on my iPad. Sometimes it asks me to re-sign into an account. Never had a problem. But today it just keeps saying Invalid IMAP username/password. Several months ago Virgin changed how I logged into my media & email account. I have to use my gmail email address. ive tried all combinations of ntlworld or gmail addresses, along with gmail password for Virgin- no longer have password with Virgin for ntlworld address. Same invalid response. I got so frustrated I deleted account from Outlook so I could re-enter it from scratch, another thing I’ve never had trouble with. But same Invalid message! Email comes up as normal if I go online. But need to be able to easily see ntlworld emails. Way back when NTL still existed, my parents used their email service to create accounts. My fathers email address was created and then he created a sub-account for my mother to use. However, now we need to reset the password for my mothers account but Virgin Media appears to have completely scrubbed the sub account features off the face of the earth. Calling the customer service line three times has gotten us no where as the help desk workers do not understand the problem at all. I was wondering if any forum staff had any advice to get this fixed as my mother has no access to her email. There used to be a sub account menu on the virgin media control panel to reset the passwords for these 'sub accounts' but, as mentioned previously, this doesn't seem to exist anymore. Any logical answers given for the birthday and security question also do not work. Can anyone help with this or are we screwed? We have had ntlworld email accounts for 20 years. My wife took out the contract so mine is a secondary email account. Suddenly last week all my devices decided I needed to login again, but the password wasn't accepted. And the password reset didn't work. 20 years of work contacts and important emails are now stuck in that account. Virgin Media chat/help has been unhelpful. Hello, I am trying to reset my email password - I have continued to use my original @ntlworld.com email from way back and have only ever had access to this email address through the Apple Mail app on my iPhone. Unfortunately, there was some kind of hacking incident and I really need to change my emails password. I have tried to access my mailbox through the Virgin Media online portal but this was met with an error message saying emails cannot be displayed. I have a number of very important emails that I cannot just stop using the account. I do not have a linked/related virgin media email account and know of no way to change my password. This email address is also the one I use to sign up to everything for and I have outstanding bookings and tickets etc attached to this account so not having access is a major issue. My question is, how do I go about changing my ntlworld password? I am reluctant to do anything until I have the process confirmed because of the hacked issue and potentially locking myself out entirely and losing everything. I’m aware that VM stopped supporting NTL World email addresses but I’m really hoping that you can help or guide me at the very least. Hi, my parent's email account is inaccessible. I cannot log in for them using their outlook email app, and I cannot log in using the webpage from virgin media. The outlook application is providing the error message: 'Internet email - emailaddress@ntlworld.com Enter your username and password for the following server: Server: smtp.virginmedia.com Username: emailaddress@ntlworld.com Password: theirpassword ' When I use the webpage it will 'check details', then ask to enter password. The passwords are autofilled and are correct. It then provides this error message: 'Your email or password was incorrect. Please try again or go back to change your email.' I then attempt to reset the password using the function underneath. I receive the following: 'Please ensure you provide the email address you use to sign in to My Virgin Media' This is a reoccurring issue for them; I have to rectify this nearly every month. Hi there, For many years I’ve had an ntlworld email under my father’s Virgin Media account under a secondary account under his. I’ve since moved out and have my own Virgin Media account but still used my ntlworld email as my primary email. Last Tuesday my ntlworld emails stopped syncing on both my iPhone and MacBook and was giving an ‘incorrect password’ error every time I typed in the password I had down for the email account. I tried to sign in using the Virgin Media Mail page but was unable to; if I put in my ntlworld email as the login details it tells me I need to use the email address associated with the main My Virgin Media account. If I do this on my personal account the button on the My Virgin Media page that’s supposed to take me to my mail says ‘mail unavailable’ and gives me a walkthrough to access my emails, however this just sends me in circles still unable to access the ntlworld email. If I do this on my father’s account the email page shows his email inboxes but under ‘accounts’ it only shows his email addresses, with no way to see my ntlworld email or add it. Both of us seem to be missing things under our account settings that would potentially help; nowhere to add email accounts, no settings specifically regarding email accounts etc. We’ve both called Virgin Media a couple of times now and have got no further - all they suggest is changing the password but whenever I use the password they’ve changed it to it simply comes up with an ‘incorrect password’ error.
