Ntlworld email
Hi, I have just realised I still have an Ntlworld email that seems to still be receiving messages. There’s a lot of junk in there and it’s been years since I used it so for security, I just want it fully closed down. I don’t recall the log in details but can still access from my phone. Does anyone know how to just fully shut it down? I have recently become the victim of a data breach where my passwords for many of my online accounts were leaked on the dark web. Yesterday I lost access to my NTLWorld email account which I have been using as my main email address for many years. After browsing this forum I have become aware that VM are now deactivating orphaned NTLWorld email accounts. I would like to confirm that my loss of access is due to the account being deactivated and not the account being compromised. About 3 nights ago I started getting strange emails on my very old ntlworld email service and wondered if there may be an issue. I decided as a precaution I would change the password and this is where my problems started. It soon became very clear that my email account had been hacked (something that was confirmed during one of my phone calls to virgin). I was assured that they would restore everything back to the way it had been, and that they would put a stop to the email account and reset it for me. The next day., I got an email thanking me for making the changes to my virgin account and I had now been upgraded to a much bigger package which obviously cost a lot more money. I was still unable to access my email account. I did not ask for these changes not did I want them! I duly called again for assistance and once again had to go through the whole ordeal of explaining my issues. I was told that people were working on my email problems and they would contact me once it was complete and they were very sorry for their mistake and would put things back. After a lot of them telling me I would lose this feature and that feature and me having to say yes thats fine, I STILL haven't had my package put back as it was! So here we are, my virgin email account still hacked and getting floods of strange emails and my package changed without my consent. Can anyone please help me with my issues or am I doomed to further frustration? We have been trying to reset the password on my son’s @ntlworld.com account very unsuccessfully. We have tried the “verify another way” and the verification email is one that we don’t recognise and therefore have no access to. Having spent over an hour on the phone again today being passed around various departments there still seems to be no one that can correct what could be a fraudulent verification email in an attempt to block my son’s access to his email! I have been Forbidden access to my webmail (@ntlworld.com) for about a week. In the past, resetting the password has always remedied the problem - but not this time. On 28th July 25, I reported that my secondary email ac was not accessible causing huge difficulties (work email for my wife). Also other priority issues it took me literally hours to get Virgin to accept the problem - I was shunted from operator to operator, from country to country. I finally got through to someone who accepted that this problem was affecting all customers. He gave me a service request number and promised to rectify within 3-5 days. He would not put it in writing. So I filed a complaint and was told that they would respond within 28 days ! When I rang after the promised time to get an update, again I was shunted from operator to operator to operator. They tried to get me to try remedies that I knew do not work. Finally I spoke to an operator who understood my service reference, he promised to write and confirm that problem will be fixed within 3 to 5 days but he never did. Disgraceful. First priority is resolution. Then we need to work together to file a substantial claim for all the consequences and loss. A long time VM customer everything was working all fine... until Monday 14th July 8am when this was introduced without prior warning! New windows introduced, chopping and changing, willy nilly, throughout that day. Only made worse when Customer services & Complaints team were clueless as to what was going on. Anyway, cut a long story short... right now (Fri 1st August, can't access any VM stuff on laptop), trying to Link Virgin Media account, after entering correctly the Account holder's last name, Account number and Area reference number - the system FINDS my VM account, I then confirm the address related to that (call this X say) BUT the next screen says it's going to send an approval of account transfer verification email to address (X???) - I CANNOT access it because domain does not exist HOWEVER I have been using this okay as a USERNAME to login to my VM account for years prior to the 14th July. Why has the system not sent this approval of account transfer verification email to my registered @ntlworld.com address (where all my emails come in & out okay) behind my USERNAME login (X)??? Absolutely abominable this - gotta be the worse customer/complaints service I've experienced in my entire life! Any ideas or a resolution, please?! (P.S. Please can someone help me. At 77 years old I am finding this so complicated. I tried my usual way to open VM emails and found this new two-way security thing asking for a third party email address to open my emails. After struggling all day with Google I have managed to create a new gmail address. I have linked it with VM and verified the new link several times. I have several NTL email addresses that I use on my iPhone. Suddenly every time I go into read emails a box pops up twice asking for a password. I used to be able to manage my NTL emails and change passwords but just finding it impossible now. also, if I log in via virgin media all my email addresses are listed all but one has a note by it to advise there’s a problem with a password.124Views0likes4Comments
