Ntlworld email down

I am unable to sign into my ntlworld email. When I go to mail.virginmedia.com, it says

“We'll be back soon

You may be having some issues accessing your email service at the moment. Please don't reset your password.

We are sorry about this. Our engineers are looking at fixing this as soon as possible.”

It has been like this for a week now, the email is also not working on my already signed in devices.

When will this be fixed?

  • No problem using Virgin email for me.

How are you trying to access your email account, sign into your My Virgin Media account and see if you can get into your email account there.

I think your an isolated case I haven't seen anyone else with this problem.

Have you checked your Service Status, you could also try the automated Service Status number  0800 561 0061.  This often gives details of more local issues down to postcode level.

If nothing is showing you can either call Virgin on 150 from a Virgin phone, mobile or landline, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone to report a fault, or wait here for one of the forum team to pick this up which might be 2 to 3 day's.

Are you sure your email address hasn't been hacked and taken over? What happens if you send a message to it from another address?

      Hi.
      The emails do not bounce.
I am unsure how it can be completely taken over or why this would result in an  the “we’ll be back soon” error message.

Anonymous  It might be a corrupt cookie on your PC returning the page.  Have you tried deleting browser cookies relating to VM webmail. Also you could try using a different browser and/or use an incognito or private browsing window to launch mail.virginmedia.com

This may sound like a daft question, but are you still a paying VM broadband customer?

        Hi James018210,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, we are sorry to hear you are having issues accessing your NTLworld email!

Can you confirm how long this issue has persisted for? 😀

Rather than using your VM home broadband have you tried accessing your VM webmail account using a VPN or by using a mobile data service (by setting up a wifi hotspot on your mobile phone for example) ?

If you can access 'mail.virginmedia.com' when using a non VM service that would suggest the issue lies with your VM home network rather than your VM Ntlworld email account itself.

I'm wondering if VM are blocking your VM IP address for some reason for example.

      Hi

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried with a VPN, mobile data, different wifi network and a different device . I face the same issue each time.

Thanks for the quick update.Sorry that did not help.

I thought it was worth a try because VM  have a habit of blocking VM emails being sent via email apps / clients  if the VM IP address has got onto a spam blocklist. I wondered if they had extended that policy.

  • I’m getting the exact same error message with my blueyonder email.  It just started happening out of the blue.

I’ve tried different browsers, different devices…nothing works. They’ve raised a ticket for me now but also told me no one else is experiencing the problem, but clearly this isn’t true !
