Embarrassingly slow speed
My internet speed the last few weeks has been incredibly slow compared to what it was before. Typically I have been able to break at least 50mb/s on my computer but as of the last few weeks I can barely break 20mb/s with occasional dips to <10mb/s for considerable periods of time. I have gone through each step typically recommended on the status check website including: resetting the router, changing position and re-plugging. I've even tried alternative methods like changing my DNS IP on the computer to see if that was the issue but to no avail. If anyone could please look into my router for me I would really appreciate it. I can provide the name account holder and additional details if needed. I will also confirm that this is not an issue with my computer as the Wi-Fi is also very slow even when I'm right next to the router. FYI I use an ethernet cable. I am currently on the M500 plan and have a broadband speed of 276.30mbps in the lounge where the WiFi box is. However as soon as I leave this room the speed drops to 39.36 downstairs and 3.42 upstairs. This is not sustainable. I have seen people able to get boosters free of charge due to virgin not offering the service set out. Does anyone know if this is a possibility or how I can fix the issue without paying an extra £10pm for each booster!77Views0likes4CommentsFaster Upload speed
Hi all My contract is coming up to finish shortly and I'm looking to get symmetrical speeds, How do I find out if this is available to me? If its not available then ill need to move away from Virgin considering I could pay the same to another company and get the symmetrical speeds I desire. Hi. I am having issues with my router speeds, it's been an ongoing issue on and off for a while. Whenever I call Virgin media about it they say everything is working fine and they try to schedule an engineer visit but it's difficult for me to find the time so I end up not booking one. If I can fix my issues without an engineer it would be preferable, I haven't had issues like this before until the end of last year when I changed from the 250MBPS package to the 350MBPS package. My issue is this, randomly at times (usually when I try to download something) I will notice that my download speed is well below normal, I only notice this sometimes when I am downloading something because I don't do random speed checks etc. When I do notice this I do a speed test and I see that I am getting between 75-85mbps. At first I would restart or factory reset my router and the speed would return to normal but now even that doesn't work sometimes and I am stuck with slow speeds for an unknown amount of time. I checked the network status page and I am noticing lots of warnings and critical errors in the log, I don't understand it at all and I am not sure if it is linked but I have noticed them almost daily. If anyone can help I would appreciate it, I use an ethernet cable connected to my PC and also wifi for my iphone, I am the only person who uses it with only them 2 devices connected at all times so it is not an overloading issue. Also, I am sat about 10 feet away from my router most of the time also. Secondly, I also had received a new router around 1 month ago to see if that would fix the issue but it has not. I will post the network status errors below.63Views0likes3CommentsDoes this BQM look okay, as I’ve been having connection issues.
Hi guys, would anyone be able to have a look at my BQM please. It’s a Gig1 package with Hub5 router. I’ve been having a really inconsistent connection recently and wondering if the unstable ping is a common DOCSIS issue or something you have to live with? Also has anyone been able to get Virgin to fix this issue? thanks. https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/075415045e7c3a32997e14159e5e7a13cf731ba21.1KViews0likes13Comments1Gib package! more like 11mb...
i am embarresed to say this, but since i got this package i have never ever had more than 45mbps download speed the first few months of upgrading to this, and now in the last few months its never went above 11.6mbps. and im only now seeing that on the website it says minimum guarantee is 500+ mbps with this package. and i have had this package for maybe a year now, and for over £60 i expect what i am promised and i expect compensation for being total screwed over like this, since day one. i have been with virgin well over 10 years and i tell everyone they are the best, just for this to happen to me.Solved1.5KViews0likes14Comments
