Ethernet dropping out constantly, HUB5
Hi, i’m having an issue with ethernet connection dropping out randomly for a few seconds (Hub 5), i have tested different Ethernet cables and also tested on 4 other devices and tried all of the different ethernet ports on the back of the router, all have the same issue with it cutting out for a few seconds then going back online happens 10-15 times per hour, WIFI is completely fine and has no drop outs, we recently had an engineer out who replaced our Hub 5 for a new one but still has the same issue with ethernet dropping out. This is the only error which pops up on the router logs when the ethernet drop out occurs; GUI Login Status - Login Success from LAN interface GUI Login Status - Login Success from LAN interface GUI Login Status - Login Success from LAN interface GUI Login Status - Login Fail from LAN interface97Views0likes5CommentsInternet connection Issues
The ethernet connections from my hub have stopped working. This includes the TV set top box - the apps cannot connect as it says there is no ethernet connection. I also have a PS5 connected via ethernet with has no connection either. The Wi-Fi is very patchy and keeps losing connection & reconnecting on all devices. I have restarted the hub a few times now, switched it off at the wall etc. with no improvements. I have tried the online & Virgin connect app troubleshooters with no luck, just take me circles and doesn't resolve anything. How do I speak to an actual person to get a resolution?Solved551Views0likes2CommentsEthernet to outbuilding
Hello - I have an outbuilding 40m down the garden, I have had an armoured cat6 cable laid between the main house and the outbuilding. Please can someone help me to undertsand whether I can just buy a a small hub/switch for the outbuilding and plug the ethernet cable into this and the other end just plugs into my Virgin Media router? Someone told me I need a PoE switch, but I don't want to run and PoE devices, just hardwire my smart TV in the outbuilding and put an Wireless Access Point so I can use my mobile. Can you also recommend any make/model please. Thanks!489Views0likes3CommentsUnknown Ethernet IPhone device connected
Hello, I have just had the hub 5 installed and added all of my devices one by one and listing all MAC addresses as they are added. All iOS and Android devices have private WiFi address switched off. I had a Quick Look into the admin panel last night and have seen a random iPhone device has connected by Ethernet. I have done a general google search of the MAC address and it comes back as possibly randomized. Would a randomized MAC address mess with things and confuse the system into thinking it is connected via Ethernet?. Also how can I remove this device from my network either via the admin panel or through the app? just to add I don’t have any devices connected with Ethernet. Had a Hub 3.0 for a couple of years and it was working perfectly. Recently, the wired connections no longer work, but wi-fi does. Tried the long press reset for 90 seconds, and it connects through wired for a few seconds during the end of the start up phase, then disconnects again. Any suggestions appreciated!244Views0likes4CommentsVirgin Media Frequent Ethernet Dropouts
Hello, I've been trying to solve an issue with ethernet dropouts at my home office, which is built at the end of my garden, for several months. I work in film/broadcast and frequently upload large files, so I usually leave my PC on overnight to get things backed up. It becomes a problem when the internet drops a few times a day or at night. Let me quickly go through the technical setup: Home - Hub 4 Router Office - TP-Link SG605E (Ethernet Hub) connected to my PC, PS5, Tapo CCTV Hub and TP-Link RE450 (working as an access point to create WiFi) I currently have one 50m Outdoor Cat6 Ethernet Cable from Hub 4 directly to the TP-Link SG605E ethernet hub. I am using an internet connection app that monitors when it's offline and how long it drops out. Generally, it goes off for about 3-5 minutes, then returns online. Previously, I had everything connected to an external ethernet hub box, which allowed me to use an ethernet cable inside the house as well. I thought this was the issue; however, it still happens with one cable only. The problem is that I'm not sure if it's Virgin updating the router in the middle of the night, so it's really hard to diagnose the issue. Does anyone else have any similar issues?367Views0likes3CommentsHub 3 not providing service paid for.
WiFi: House of 6 all complained to me (bill payer) that WiFi does not work. Fully recreated issue on my computer/laptop/phone. WiFi will either not work at all ei no connection or will connect and then not be able to take you to web. ethernet: Go to plug my computer or laptop into hub 3. Comes up with unidentified network. Proceeds to not work. Even when ssid comes up computer is not connected to internet. No issue on previous Ethernet connection held by either device. I would personally like a technician out as have had similar issues with previous virgin wifi. I want someone with more experience to assist in making my virgin internet better please. many thanks Aidan F665Views0likes4CommentsPhantom Ethernet Connection
Bit of a head scratcher here. I've been trying to port-forward for my desktop's minecraft server via its ethernet connection, but while I've managed to set up DHCP for my computer & port forward to it, the (3.0) hub continually insists that there are no devices connected via ethernet... Given that I can turn off my computer's wifi connection and still access the internet via the ethernet adapter, and ipconfig reports I'm happily bound to 192.168.0.112 (as I defined in DHCP settings) I'm somewhat stumped. Ordinarily this would be a minor curiosity and little more since I am -in fact- still connected to the net, but people connecting to the minecraft server via the external ip seem to have massively strangled connections. They can find the server and connect, but then experience phenomena demonstrative of an unworkably sketchy connection (connection time-outs, infinite loading). Are these things connected? Is there some setting I've missed somewhere that might be choking my connections? I've got firewall rules set inbound & outbound for both TCP & UDP on the relevant port... So what's going on? Why does my ethernet connection seem intent on pretending it doesn't exist?427Views0likes2CommentsHub 5x not showing connected devices
Hello, I have recently joined VM and I was really pleased with the speeds and stability for a few months. Suddenly, when I tried to use the VM app it asked me to join my 2 networks and when I cancelled it, I cannot see the hub in the app. I tried every troubleshooting method and I could not get it to work, VPN settings, reset, clear cache etc. Seeing that the app is at least unreliable (rather euphemism) I decided to only use the hub's menu to check my network. Now the hub does not show ANY connected device at all. Apparently this is wrong as I am literally typing this being connected via the same hub but nothing shows up. Not Ethernet nor wireless. The networks can be detected, main and guest and all my devices are connected, as I am running a smart home setup on Home Assistant. I am thinking of restarting the hub but I read that when other people tried it they lost or connectivity completely. As both I and my wife are working from home I am really reluctant to try this. Also my smart home has more than 30 devices relying on wireless connection, so fixing things can be a challenge. Does anyone have previous experience on a similar issue? Thank youSolved2.6KViews0likes12CommentsInternet keeps cutting out on wired ethernet connection.
On Monday 1st April, the internet was down for everyone in my postcode, it came back on 2nd April at around noon but since then my internet has been randomly cutting out on my PC every few minutes which is connected directly to the Hub4 router via ethernet cable. The task bar in the bottom right does not say I have lost connection to the internet or anything but games and apps such as Discord fully freeze up/cut out so I am definitely getting 100% packet loss or fully losing connection. I've attached two clips showing my issue below, please see the links below, if you aren't familiar with this game it may be a little hard to follow but you can see me lose connection, the characters either freeze or continue to walk in one direction before teleporting to where they're supposed to be. (You can see a red square with a warning symbol in it on the left in the first clip at around 0:04 seconds as well as a lightning bolt symbol which I know means bad/lost connection to the server and at 0:05 there is an icon on the left with 3 orange rectangles that signify packet loss. Same for the second clip. This happens literally every few minutes: https://streamable.com/syphlo https://streamable.com/sjnst7 I've shared my experience both in this forum and on the Virgin Media subreddit over the past couple of weeks but haven't been able to fix the issue I am facing. I will provide my Broadband Quality Monitor below but I don't think the issues are represented on there somehow. https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/quality/share/0c17ac529c00d48229d05cbf74cafcee343cba78 I have factory reset my router multiple times since the problems started occuring and even bought a brand new ethernet cable yesterday and even with both of these things taken into account I'm getting the same issues still. I'm thinking about purchasing a brand new coaxial cable too just to be fully sure it's not any of my own equipment. I had ZERO issues prior to the maintenance in my area on April 1st and there isn't any more maintenance scheduled for my area so I'm not sure what's happening. One thing that may be of note or just some strange coincidence is that about a week after the issues started, there was an electric power outage in my area and once the electricity came back on for everyone my internet was actually perfectly fine for about a day before returning to my previous problems. It's been 18 days now and I'm still having issues, any advice of any sort would be very much appreciated and I'd be more than happy to give any further info that is required. Thank you very much everyone.2KViews0likes12Comments
