Virgin Media Frequent Ethernet Dropouts
Hello,
I've been trying to solve an issue with ethernet dropouts at my home office, which is built at the end of my garden, for several months. I work in film/broadcast and frequently upload large files, so I usually leave my PC on overnight to get things backed up. It becomes a problem when the internet drops a few times a day or at night.
Let me quickly go through the technical setup:
Home - Hub 4 Router
Office - TP-Link SG605E (Ethernet Hub) connected to my PC, PS5, Tapo CCTV Hub and TP-Link RE450 (working as an access point to create WiFi)
I currently have one 50m Outdoor Cat6 Ethernet Cable from Hub 4 directly to the TP-Link SG605E ethernet hub. I am using an internet connection app that monitors when it's offline and how long it drops out. Generally, it goes off for about 3-5 minutes, then returns online.
Previously, I had everything connected to an external ethernet hub box, which allowed me to use an ethernet cable inside the house as well. I thought this was the issue; however, it still happens with one cable only.
The problem is that I'm not sure if it's Virgin updating the router in the middle of the night, so it's really hard to diagnose the issue.
Does anyone else have any similar issues?
