Ethernet to outbuilding

Question

Hello - I have an outbuilding 40m down the garden, I have had an armoured cat6 cable laid between the main house and the outbuilding.

Please can someone help me to undertsand whether I can just buy a a small hub/switch for the outbuilding and plug the ethernet cable into this and the other end just plugs into my Virgin Media router?

Someone told me I need a PoE switch, but I don't want to run and PoE devices, just hardwire my smart TV in the outbuilding and put an Wireless Access Point so I can use my mobile.

Can you also recommend any make/model please.

A normal switch is fine assuming the AP you are going to use does not require POE, so will use its own power supply.
