Ethernet adaptor

Hi just had broadband installed 1 gig box. The engineer left a Ethernet adaptor and I was not home to find out what this adaptor does. It is a small single black socket with an Ethernet and usb input. My sons PC’s Wi-Fi strength is not as strong as say my phone so his speed is lower so he thought this adaptor was a booster for Ethernet but cannot seam to connect if anyone has any idea or similar issue please help.

  • Could you please post a photo. There is no such thing as an "Ethernet booster". The only thing I can think of is if it’s a USB to Ethernet adapter. They are used on PCs that do not have an Ethernet connection, you plus it into a USB port on the machine and then use an Ethernet cable to plug it into the hub. I have never heard of VM technicians supplying these.

        Hi diggerwalker

I notice that your picture shows a VM remote control for either a Stream (Flex) or TV360 box.  I'm inclined to think it's a remote control for the Stream (Flex) TV box so the ethernet/usb adapter would be for that box.

Pictured below.the Stream-power-ethernet-adapter and Stream (Flex) TV set top box.

Ah that makes more sense, no use to my son his PC has Ethernet but sits upstairs away from the hub, I think I need the 2 wall socket type boosters or some form of  Ethernet boosters
