Hub 5 - Ethernet Ports failed

on the GIG connection. Using Hub 5. At 3.10 pm today my Hub stopped working. After turning it off for the manditory 1 minute & back on, my ehternet port were no longer connected.

I tried the rest via 192.168.0.1, Advanced settings. Still shows not device connected to the HUB, I have the Tivo connected, My LG TV, a WiFi access point for my Network cameras. As well as varoius devises and my PC connected to the 2.5 gig port. I had to install a USB WiFi  to get this to work. Initially at only 24mbit, after another reset it increased to 300mbit. Just checked it again 5 hours later Ping 35 ms which over double usual, 64 mbit down & 74 mbit up. So definitely something wrong.

Was using port 2 Gig connected to a 16port Gigabit switch & port 4 2.5 GBit connected to an 8 Port Managed swith EEE off by default.

Engineer booked for Friday PM. Thursdays appointments vanished whild he was trying to book it, so it looks like there are a few problems.

  • feed cable was slightly loose, and the Tivo ethernet cable was replaced.

    All now functioning correctly.

Our VM Hub had DHCP server failure, the initial symptoms are of dead Ethernet ports.

The give away for a DHCP server fault was the Ethernet socket LEDs were lit on both ends of each network cable, plus a static IP Cisco VOIP phone was working.

A Power Cycle of the Hub did not clear this.

A 60 second press on the Hub RESET button & then leaving the Hub powered on to complete the RESET process did clear the DHCP server fault.  Might be worth a try.

unplug everything to the hub power off and on the hub connect one PC to the hub by wire

  • Definitely a serious problem somewhere.

  • Was trying to listen to a one hr podacst, between 1300 & 1400 dropped the connection 13 times.

The grid and speed test do not give any clues as to where the speed / connectivity is being lost.

Share a screen shot of the Full Test from :

    https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Once the test begins click on: Run full test to include: Latency, Jitter, Packet loss & Upload speed.

  • After a factory reset of the hub, the 40 odd dropouts a day have stopped.

Port 1 started showing signs of life this morning, with ports 2, 3 & 4 working about 30 mins later. Currently all 4 ports are working correctly. Only problem my network printer is refusing to play.

Getting your own router with 1Gb ports or better with hub in modem mode will fix that I'm sure
