ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: XGS-PON & Volt Decided to cancel my services within the cooling off period. Nightmare to deal with. Must of spoken to customer services about twenty times over the last few days. All clueless. The forum team used to be really good but after spending days to try and speak with Martin, the security information was apparently incorrect, despite this being copied and pasted from my online account. I actually think it’s because he too doesn't want to try and solve the issue as no one knows anything about the xgs-pon system. So the solution is, cancel. Life’s too short to be dealing with these lot. Re: XGS-PON & Volt Does anyone know how to get this sorted? I have spoken to Virgin Media about ten times now to no avail. Messaged Martin at the agreed time but haven’t heard back. Guessing I might just be best to cancel my Virgin and o2 contract before my cooling off period ends? Re: Joining Virginmedia I think the problem may of been your parents 😬 Re: Stream box suddenly started saying need more power I don’t think VM supplies the PSUs at install now, unless the engineers have separate boxes of them on the van. I offered to get rid of the packaging for the engineer. It was just one cardboard box that both the hub, stream, remote and cables came in. No psu in the box. Perhaps they only supply them on request to cut down on e-waste cough cough cost. Re: NG21 outage every morning Appreciate this may or may not help! But I am in the same postcode area (NG21) but on XGS-PON as supposed to HFC that the rest of the area is on. We haven’t had any issues with drop out and nor has the parents in law who are also in that area and on the HFC network. suspect it is an issue with your hub/cable from house to cab etc. XGS-PON & Volt Got my Volt benefits recently. Already got a free mesh booster on the way……everything is showing correct in my online account. But, no speed boost! Tried turning the hub on and off over the last few days. No increase. Tried a hard reset, no increase and now I also can’t sign into the hub admin page with the default password! I have read this is a common issue with xgs-pon and speed upgrades/volt. I have checked the speed on the real speed Cisco site that tests it at the hub and device, both come back at 380mb (same speed we’ve had since install day and I’m on the 350mb package so should move up to 500mb. Any ideas? SolvedRe: Stream box suddenly started saying need more power Ours was plugged directly into the tv too. Problem for us was the tv when in standby would kill the power on the usb socket. So the stream box would load up from a hard reset and take an age. I don’t know if VM supply plugs for them. I used a fire tv stick plug that I had and it works fine now. also, you should get compensation for the three day outage…..assuming you registered the loss of service. Re: Good Install - but no internal socket Looks like they did at least do one for xgs. Maybe they’ve done away with it, just concerned the cable might get abused being coiled up on the floor under the stairs…..the wife likes to store various bits of tat in there. photo is what I found online Good Install - but no internal socket Had VM XGS-PON installed today. The engineer had a nightmare getting the fibre through the internal micro-duct and didn’t finish up until about 20:30. So I didn’t want to press the chap, as he got us online and was staying behind late to do so. Internally, the fiber comes out the wall, into a double end connector, into the white fibrr lead to the router. It’s all coiled up on the floor. In the past, this has come out of a white VM box internally. Does this white box serve any purpose or can the black fibre cable that comes out the wall just be left coiled up on the floor? thanks One Touch Switch - No information from old provider Hello, Probably one for the Mods, I placed an order to rejoin VM again a couple of weeks ago. I opted to use the One Touch Switch process, but haven’t heard anything from the supplier I am leaving. Please could someone check what is happening with this? Did the request go through or is there a problem? Thanks, Cam
