Good Install - but no internal socket

Had VM XGS-PON installed today. The engineer had a nightmare getting the fibre through the internal micro-duct and didn’t finish up until about 20:30. So I didn’t want to press the chap, as he got us online and was staying behind late to do so.

Internally, the fiber comes out the wall, into a double end connector, into the white fibrr lead to the router. It’s all coiled up on the floor.

In the past, this has come out of a white VM box internally. Does this white box serve any purpose or can the black fibre cable that comes out the wall just be left coiled up on the floor?

thanks

The old co- ax cable did have a wall socket in some cases, but I believe the fibre to the Hub 5X is directly connected.  VM for whatever reason decided not to use an ONT.

Looks like they did at least do one for xgs. Maybe they’ve done away with it, just concerned the cable might get abused being coiled up on the floor under the stairs…..the wife likes to store various bits of tat in there.

Hey Cameron121, thank you for reaching out with your question.

We wouldn't mess around with any of the cabling we would advise to leave it all there.

Is everything working okay for you?
