Old NTL socket internal orientation

Just moved into a house- there was a dismantled NTL socket at the end of the old cable- does it make a difference which socket has the input from the cable and which has output to the 360 splitter. I assume the IN at the top should have the input and the TV does work when it 's all connected up. Just would like confirmation I'm not doing something potentially dangerous - or should I call for an engineer to replace this old cabling. The gold coloured input is near IN and the silver push fit goes to the new splitter. Thanks in advance đŸ˜

    The supply cable from the street goes to 'In' and your VM equipment is connected to the other side, 'Out'

    For information, that is a safety isolator. It is basically a surge arrester that stops any power surge in the incoming coax damaging the equipment connected to it.

    Roger123 (good Customer since 02/10/2023), elderly ( no iPhone) and suffering from Parkinson’s disease ‘taken to the cleaners’ by Virgin Media. Very little or NO help, with CONSTANT "NO SHOW" ENGINEERS (requires SUBSTANTIAL COMPENSATION - NO Television since the 31/12/2024!). ‘Told’ to contact ‘Cardiffman282’ on the 09/01/2025? After ‘jumping through hoops’, AGAIN, impossible to contact ‘Cardiffman282’ through so called 'Virgin Media Community’. AGAIN, 'NOTHING WORKS IN ANY WAY IN ANYTHING REMOTELY CONNECTED WITH VIRGIN MEDIA’? THIS IS MY ‘NIGHTMARE’! Roger123.
