No DHCP for wired devices
Odd problem, none of the wired devices on my home network can acquire IP config via DHCP yet wireless devices can. It's intermittent in that I can make it work OK for a few minutes by restarting the Hub 3.0. I have a switch that feeds a desktop PC, printer and a few other devices so although my laptop is fine on WiFi this is causing a bit of a problem for other devices. I've taken the Hub 3.0 out, added a different router, everything works fine (except no broadband as the alternative router is just a simple DSL device) so it's looking like the Hub 3.0 is the cause. Anyone seen this before? Better still, anyone know how to fix? Thanks!Solved373Views0likes5CommentsHub 5 - Your home network has a few problems
Hi all, I've recently been upgraded to a Hub 5 and one of the new WiFi extenders following a complaint made about speed and WiFi dropouts. All was working well until the weekend when we had a power outage for approx 30mins. The Hub 5 stayed online as it's connected to my UPS but lost all connectivity due to the street box also losing power. Since coming back online the Hub 5 has been really slow especially the wired connections. The Hub 5 has been rebooted multiple times as has the WiFi extender but the slowness remains. On checking the router and performing diagnostics the below message is displayed. All wired connections are using new Cat 6 cables and are no more than 6ft from the hub but as you can see from below the speed is poor. What is this diagnostics screen telling me? I was also using the Virgin Media Connect App to view connections on both the Hub 5 and WiFi extender but since the power outage the App can no longer connect to the Hub 5 saying "We can't find the Hub, please try reinstalling". I've tried following the prompts but nothing works. The device in question above is a Dell laptop connected via a Dell docking station running Win 11 with all current updates, drivers etc. Previously this would show a speed of 600+ although would expect it to be higher. Had a Hub 3.0 for a couple of years and it was working perfectly. Recently, the wired connections no longer work, but wi-fi does. Tried the long press reset for 90 seconds, and it connects through wired for a few seconds during the end of the start up phase, then disconnects again. Any suggestions appreciated!241Views0likes4CommentsWhy do I have separate Networks for Wired and Wireless?
I have my laptop and TV connected to the Hub on Wireless and my desktop connected on Wired, and they are connecting to two different networks. This means I can't do filesharing and media centre from my desktop. The Wireless network shows up with the name I gave it in the Hub settings, the Wired connection is just "Network 2". Any idea how to get them all on the same network? (Internet is working fine across all devices)Solved1.1KViews0likes9CommentsWireless being faster than wired on ps5
Hi, does anybody know why my internet connection is faster through wireless than it is wired when connected to the ps5? Currently connected to the router with a cat 8 Ethernet cable to the ps5, wired connection is download 91.9Mbps upload 9.1Mbps. I’ve completed different wireless tests around the house as well through the app. bedroom 1 download is 804Mbps where the ps5 is and upload is 100Mbps I’ve bought a second router as well to connect to and that was pulling full speed for a couple of days and that dropped as well to the same speeds while wired so disconnected it. Thanks in advance2.5KViews0likes5Comments
